Not too bad, a nice change
Advantages: Good story Disadvantages: Makes you look at your own life a bit more!
I thought this film was actually quite good. It makes a change from the classic Sandra Bullock film and although some bits seemed a bit unrealistic, I still thought that it was quite a good film.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this film because I didn't really read the blurb on the back of the box before putting it in the player, but found that I couldn't stop watching it. I thought that she portrayed the character of an alcohol abuser quite ... ...were also quite well researched. The story is that Sandra Bullock loves to party and is the life and soul of every event, but when she makes a big scene at her sister's wedding and is arrested following a crash, she is put into Rehab, where she meets other people who change the way that she looks at her life.
Overall, an easy-to-watch film which isn't all bad! I would recommend it to you! ...

Fargo - A very dark comedy
Advantages: Very good performances and darkly funny Disadvantages: Some of the characters are a little one dimensional
Fargo is a Coen brothers' film starring Frances McDormand, William H Macy and Steve Buscemi. Set in snowy Minneapolis it follows the stories of debt-crippled car dealer Jerry Lundegaard and heavily pregnant rural cop Marge Gunderson as the two characters' lives become intertwined by some hapless hitmen. GOOD POINTS Fargo is a difficult film to categorise as it has elements of a number of different genres such as film noir, hard boiled thriller, black ... ...the stereotypical Slavic hitman who feels like a bit of a poorly thought through late addition to the plot. Buscemi is at his weasely best as the slightly inept hitman who quickly comes unstuck. All in all, Fargo is a quirky darkly comic thriller that I would definitely watch again. ...

A Fitting Memorial
Advantages: Extremely powerful, highlights an extremely important event Disadvantages: Perhaps doesn't show enough of the protests and those who promote hate
...was so badly injured that the man who found him wasn't even sure if it was a human to begin with. Their reason for this horrific violence? Matthew Shepherd was openly homosexual. The lives of the people from the small town of Laramie were shaken, particularly when it became apparant that the two men responsible were in fact boys from the town who they had all seen grow up into what they had believed were good young men. This film follows how those ... ...of kidnapping and murder.
The casting for this film was excellently done. The actors had obviously done a fair amount of research into the people who they were portraying. I was particularly impressed by Christina Ricci (a consistantly outstanding actor), Joshua Jackson and Clea DuVall. Terry Kinney's perfomance of the speech Dennis Shepherd read at the end of the trial was also incredibly moving. Also, the combination of reconstruction of interviews, ...

Tony takes the Fifth
Advantages: As good as ever Disadvantages: None
...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cert: 18
The fifth series of the Sopranos finally won the Emmy for Outstanding Dramatic Series, an accolade that it should have received for each of its previous 4 seasons. So why did season 5 pick up the Emmy were other years the show failed to beat of the likes of the West wing? Probably because the West Wing represents the ideal America with an ideal President whereas the Sopranos represent an America the establishment would ... ...knock the West Wing, it's a fine dramatic series but it plays it safe in away the Sopranos never would. The fact that the Sopranos won the Emmy for season 5 shows that by this stage even the Academy could no longer ignore this ground breaking show.
The fifth series is indeed worthy of its Emmy, plotlines were tighter and better developed than in the previous season. The injection of new blood in the likes of Tony Blundetto (Steve Buscemi), "Feech" ...

A Coen Brothers classic
Advantages: Story and actors Disadvantages: none
...years and their 1996 film, Fargo is definitely one of those films.
Fargo is set in Fargo, North Dakota and is about a car salesman, Jerry Lundegaard (William H Macy), with severe financial problems, who arranges for two men to kidnap his wife for $80,000 and force his father-in-law, Wade Gustafson (Harve Presnell) to pay a $1 million ransom. The local police chief Marge Gunderson (Frances McDormand), who is heavily pregnant, investigates the murders as she discovers the bigger scheme.
This is a wonderful film from Joel and Ethan Coen, who have written and directed a superb story. Frances McDormand is great as the quirky and meticulous police chief, with a performance that richly deserved her Best Actress Oscar. The Coen ...
