...- Ludlow THE FILM When 'The Aviator', directed by Martin Scorsese, was fist released in 2004 I quite fancied watching it but just never got round to doing so. While ordering some books from Amazon I looked up the DVD and as it was only £1, I added it to my order. In retrospect - I'm glad that it was only £1!! The story follows around twenty tears in the life of the infamous, eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes from his making of his epic ...

If I ever saw it...this is how it would look

Advantages: Its Excellent
Disadvantages: quite graphic

...The Concept Traffic is a really intelligent look at the world of drug trafficking and offers a broad scale of insight. We see the trafficking process from its beginning in Mexico where attempts at its deterrence are much beleaguered by corruption, through to America's infinitely more constitutional attempt at tackling the problem. We are also the given the chance to see the happy upper class lives of those responsible for the drugs distribution ...
...the street and its effect on individuals and their families. The film involves countless harrowing scenes of habitual drug use and lacks the glamour with which drugs are all too often associated with these days. The flagrant snorting of cocaine and disturbing scenes involving both the smoking and injecting of Heroine are intensely compelling and the audience is not patronised or guarded from the rawness of these acts in any way. This makes the film ...

Where for art thou in thy automobile, Romeo, dude?!

Advantages: Stunning visuals, acting, modernisation
Disadvantages: Nothing really

...modern update of Shakespeare's classic Romeo and Juliet met with instant success. It combined trademark intense visuals from Luhrman with an impressive musical score, and some great up and coming actors. I've never really been a fan of Leonardo DiCaprio, and although I found his portrayal of lovelorn Romeo a bit annoying at times, the basics of it were impressive. A Montague set in modern day Verona, he has as his family'e enemies the Capulets. ...
...of the Capulets, and when she finds the love at first sight reciprocal, it sets off a whole series of mistimed and unlucky events. Claire Danes is really good as the wide eyed and innocent Juliet, who likes what she sees and dreams of the impossible. She and Leo together are a good lead pair of actors, and are brilliantly supported by stars such as John Leguizamo and Harold Perrineau. The whole cast do a good job, with familiar names such as Pete ...

The hours- You don't want to miss this beautifully told film

Advantages: Story and strong performances.
Disadvantages: Slow.

...was regarded as one of the best films of 2002. This film has three stories, spanning over a few decades, dealing with the lives of three women. A woman(Meryl Streep) planning to throw a party for his writer friend who suffers from AIDS in 2001, a pregnant wife awaiting her husband's birthday party in the 1950's and an author named Virginia Woolf writing her novel "the hours" in the 1930's. Its the novel that binds them together, and also their state ...
...From the first scene itself, the film binds you with its story-telling.There's something really honest, really sincere about this film. Emotions are mostly kept inside, it is more thoughtful, rather than verbal. It is essentially about what all three women are going through in their lives, battling depression and confusion in life in their own ways. All three stories are fabulous and there's hardly a weak link in the movie. This is not a movie on ...

...can't remember how I acquired Notes on a Scandal but it had been sitting on my 'to watch' shelf of DVDs for a while mainly because I didn't really know anything about it. Anyway, last night as my husband was out, I thought I would sit and watch it and I am so glad that I did as it really is an excellent film - and it's British! The film stars Judi Dench as Barbara Covett a crusty old spinster school teacher who is actually very lonely. She has a ...
...of the film meets Sheba Hart, a young art teacher, played by Cate Blanchett. She is young and attractive but feels a little bit trapped in her marriage to an older man (Bill Nighy) and dealing with their teenage daughter and downs syndrome son. Life is not easy for Sheba and she soon starts confiding in Barbara. This is exactly what Barbara yearns for but she is not at all pleased when she discovers that Sheba also has a somewhat unhealthy and dangerous ...
