I just thought that the storyline of this film was fantastic, and that the actors really helped to make the film as amazing as it could be. The fact that this is the only one of his films that I have seen on the big screen in a cinema probably helped, as this added to the atmosphere the first time I saw it. ...not acting as mothers. Nearly all of the characters in the film are women, except Esteban who dies early in the film and Agrado and Lola who act and behave like women. Without men to interfere Almodovar freely explores the interactions between this fascinating set of “females”. The result is a highly emotional and richly woven tapestry. ...the fight, dedication and determination Gandhi had to secure the countries independence. The film is both moving and very informative, its slow paced but that's the purpose of the film, its both dramatic and so powerfully moving. The film was a true appraisal of the life and legacy of Mahatma, it showed his beliefs, his coriage, power and determination to fight for a just cause. ...known figure. We see how Gandhi gets assisnated during an evening walk in the garden, being shot by a young man and then shouting out "Oh God" before he dies. The film then rewinds back to the early moments of Gandhi's movement for freedom. We don't get to see his childhood or any aspect of his parental life etc, it moves straight into the pivotal moment were Gandhi is thrown off a train in South Africa, because he was travelling in first class. ... Introduction As soon as I heard about this film, I knew it would be right up my street. Described as a murder mystery, it is set in a stately home in 1930s England. With a large number of famous actors and actresses, including Maggie Smith, Kristin Scott-Thomas, Helen Mirren, Charles Dance, Stephen Fry and Clive Owen, it couldn't really go much wrong. Disadvantages: None whatsoever.

I must preface this review by saying that this is my favourite film ever, and Pedro Almodovar is my favourite director, so forgive me if I seem a bit over-enthusiastic. The film is a drama, spoken in Spanish with English subtitles. The details of the plot are essentially tragic, but it does not have a depressing feel to it.
