Has Anyone Seen Sunday? No? We'll Have To Walk!

Advantages: A "Grimm-er" Live Action (PG) Take on This Classic Brothers Grimm Tale, Directed by the Screenwriter/Co-Author of Edward Scissorhands (Caroline Thompson)
Disadvantages: Possibly Not Suitable for Younger Children (not Disney Animation "Pretty-Pretty" version) - Miranda Richardson dominates the action and steals the show as the stepmother.

...and false loyalty from "The Snow Queen" (by Hans Christian Anderson). Unlike most telling of the tale, in this version, John (played by Tom Irwin) and his wife Josephine (Vera Farmiga) are not King and Queen - but rather a peasant couple living in the Forest. As she pricks her finger on a thorn from her roses, and the drop of blood drops on fallen apple blossoms, she desires a child with hair like ebony, skin as white as the apple blossoms and mouth ...
...baby, and so Snow White is born, and her mother, living only to name her baby, dies. The distraught father buries his wife and seeks to find food for his baby, struggling through a winter storm and falling at last exhausted, weeping inconsolably. Where his tears fall into the snow-covered ground, they melt an icy prison of enchantment of "The Green-Eyed One" - who offers him the customary wishes. The wish for sustenance for his daughter results in ...

Still here, in memory...

Advantages: Interesting background; great addition of little, subtle touches
Disadvantages: None

...history - some histories of the British royal family come with handy genealogy charts, showing the progress of royals through the ages in graphic format. Often, the younger children, the 'also rans' of the royal story, are left off the charts, unless they attained fame some other way, or unless they married well. For those royal children who died in infancy or childhood, history is most unkind - they aren't even in the footnotes or indices. Such ...
...epilepsy, he was (according to the custom of the time) kept out of the public eye. Being rather low on the pecking order, he likely never would have attracted much attention, but with his disability, in a world that did not quite know how to regard those with disabilities, he was indeed an outcast, however royal. The teleplay shows an interplay of the private life of Prince John and his caregivers, particularly the deeply devoted servant and nanny, ...

A Decent Double Pack

Advantages: Great Value, Two Reasonable Films
Disadvantages: Both films a bit tedious in parts

...this double pack up for the great price of 5.99 and I enjoyed one film more than the other but both were satisfactory. The Constant Gardener is a film based on a bestselling novel by John Le Carre. The film is a exciting mix of a romance and a spy thriller. Ralph Fiennes stars as Justin Quayle, a British diplomat who has always gone about his work very quietly, not causing a stir. After his radical wife, Tessa (Rachel Weisz), is killed, he becomes ...
...of a very dangerous conspiracy. The film alternates between flashbacks of Justin and Tessa's relationship and Justin's hunt for the truth, which makes him a target even though he doesn't know who is after him. Bill Nighy plays British official Sir Bernard Pellegrin and Hubert Kounde as Arnold Bluhm, an African doctor who might have been a little too friendly with Tessa. Fiennes and Weisz give strong performances playing characters that will continually ...
