Horse Porn, Flower Masturbation and Bestality
Review of The Beast (Wide Screen) by
filmbuff85
Advantages: Quite funny, direction and cinematography
Disadvantages: Guaranteed to offend 99% of people
The Esperance's were a once noble and revered French family who owned a multitude of lands, recently however they have fallen on hard times. They live in a crumbling house and their future now depends on an arranged marriage between their goofy son Mathurin (Pierre Benedetti) and an English noblewoman, Lucy Broadhurst (Lisbeth Hummel). From the outset it is obvious that there is something not right with the family and especially with Mathurin. The ... ...he won't return their calls. The younger sister of the family, who is a bit of a hippy, is supposed to be babysitting but locks up the kids in the wardrobe so she can have sex with the black servant Ifany, but they keep being interrupted leaving the girl to finish herself of with the bed post. Also Mathurin, who has a dark secret, is more interested in watching his horses have sex. Lucy is left to wander the mansion herself and finds the diary of ...

Withnail and I (20th Anniversary Edition)
Review of Withnail And I (20th Anniversary Edition) by
peach67
Advantages: Even more extras
Disadvantages: None!
'Have you been at the controls...?'
What can I say that hasn't been said already about one of THE best British films of the last 20 years. I originally saw this film at the cinema when it was first released. I loved it then and after countless reruns I love it still. Like most of it's avid fans I can quote most of the legendary script; with dry one-liners and scathing comment it seemed to sum up the ending of the 60s perfectly, as does the classic ... ...with the artwork, commentary and inciteful documentary adding to the enjoyment of seeing this classic as clear as the day it was shot.
No film collection should be without this most excellent of films - if you haven't seen it yet - what are you waiting for?? If you have - you'll know what I mean... ...

Footballers Wives Season 2 Episodes 1-8
Review of Footballers' Wives - The Complete Series 2 DVD by
Bambika1984
Advantages: Good fun to watch, each episode makes you want to watch the next
Disadvantages: Need to have seen series one first
I was hooked on the show from the very first episode, its not a serious as the adverts make it out to beyes it is a drama but its very hard to take serious with the outrageous story lines that get even less believable each week - that said its still a fantastic show, although i'd say more a comdey/drama!
About the cast:
CHARDONNAY LANE (Susie Amy) - A glamour model and half of the "golden couple" Chardonnay is engaged to Kyle.
KYLE PASCOE (Gary ... ...JACKIE PASCOE (Gillian Taylforth) - Kyle's mum, very proud of her son, doesn't always see eye to eye with his fiance!
LARA BATEMAN (Lee-anne Baker) - Close friend of Chardonnay, married to the goalkeeper of the team.
JASON TURNER (Cristian Solimento) - Captain of Earls Park, married to Tanya although has a wandering eye
TANYA TURNER (Zoe Lucker) - Chain smoking Tanya lives for her expensive lifestyle and is determind to hang on to her cheating ...

Can I Persuade You?
Review of Persuasion DVD by
venice105
Advantages: Fantastic film that might have passed you by
Disadvantages: may cause swooning
...U, nothing offensive here!
Persuasion won the National Review Board's Best Picture award in 1995.
* A side note, I am pretty sure "Persuasion" was largely the plot "inspiration" for the second Bridget Jones installment (more noticeable in the book as the film chopped it to pieces), if anyone wants to compare. (Pride & Prejudice is more obviously recognised as the inspiration for Bridget Jones' Diary down to Mark Darcy). This is clear in Bridget ...

A great film for grown ups
Review of Amores Perros (Love's A Bitch) (Subtitled) by
mugpunter
Advantages: Fantastic - profound, exciting, visceral, moving all the qualities of myth or fable
Disadvantages: A little heavy on the blood and guns
This is a long way from being a Hollywood "guns solve all problems" action movie although there are are enough similarities to keep you on the edge of your seat. This is a brilliantly structured set of interlocking fables which in a very short space of time and at breathless speed take you through a set of moral questions and human dillemas. The tone moves from comic to violent to tragic the action from rapid cut dog fights to the talking head of ...
