Without a doubt, The West Wing remains one of the finest shows ever to be aired on television. The superb cast and excellent writing is unparalleled, even after Sorkin's departure. The fact that many Americans would prefer Bartlet to Bush is testament to its quality. Ok right well let me start by telling you Im still quite new to this review-writing lark, so please feel free to tell me where I am going wrong. I saw one episode of this series a repeat on some digital channel, and decided it was one of the best comedies I have seen in ages. For some strange reason I appeared to have missed it on normal TV. I've just finished watching House Series 1 on DVD, having come to this series late in the day. Each episode is like a self contained medical detective story. House is a great character, irascible and difficult to work with but forgiven for this because of his great intelligence and snippets of compassion that peek through. Hugh Laurie is a convincing American.The supporting cast provides a nice mix of characters and the more you watch the more you learn about their backgrounds, so their back histories unfold bit by bit.
