I Was Cured Alright
Advantages: Amazing Disadvantages: Drags at points
..."The Shining", Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange is one you do not want to miss.
Back in 1971 this was a big hit and is not praised enough nowadays for it's awesome plot and acting. For those of you who watch Britain's Got Talent, the main character in this movie can be seen singing "Singin' in the rain" numourous times during the movie, which i love!
Plot - A Clockwork Orange is set in future London in 1995 (It was the future at the time, back ... ...droogs Georgie, Pete and Dim. They hang out in the Milk Bar drinking

Straw Dogs can't bite can they?.....Ouch!
Advantages: Fantastic performances, great story Disadvantages: Very Violent
Straw Dogs is a Sam Pekinpah film, adapted from 'The Siege of Trenchers Farm' a 1969 novel by Gordon Williams, it is known by many simply for the brutal violences which seemed shocking at the time but now seems brutal but not out of the ordinary. It has a reputation due to a brutal rape scene, which is awful, but absolutely relevant to the story and the dramatic events that follow. As it was not allowed for home release it developed a notoriety along ... ...film is about David and Amy Sumner (Dustin Hoffman and Susan George) a couple who move to the remote Cornish village where Amy grew up ironically to escape the violence and brutality of inner city America. Due to a misunderstanding over some building work the Sumners ask for on their broken down farmhouse, a local builder Charlie Venner (Del Henney) and his workmen create whispers about the Sumners and a campaign of deep seated mistrust and resentment ...

A Splendid 'Elizabeth R' She Is!
Advantages: Splendid turn by Glenda Jackson; brilliant scripts; historical accuracy; sumptuous costumes; compleat DVD set (Region 1). Disadvantages: Off with your silly head!
...hearing a later speech of Elizabeth I, as dramatized in 'Elizabeth R'.
Elizabeth I was the last of the Tudor line, the lion's cub, and in so many ways, a true daughter of her father, Henry VIII. The country would enjoy a lasting peace during her reign, when drama, writing and poetry would flourish (through the likes of Shakespeare, Marlowe, Bacon and others). The once fearsome Spanish armada would soon lose its lustre, to be replaced by the English ... ...too, in her role as Elizabeth I in this outstanding 1971 BBC TV production of 'Elizabeth R'. This six-part mini-series remains today as the finest filmed version of Elizabeth I's life and times. Originally presented as a sequel to the equally excellent 'The Six Wives of Henry VIII', 'Elizabeth R' begins with fifteen-year-old Princess Elizabeth (or Lady Elizabeth, as her title was to be when her father declared her a bastard), already having lost ...

Macbeth DVD-very good for GCSE which it is mainly used for
Advantages: Understanding and visualising the play and language. Disadvantages: the film is just over 2 hours and the picture quality is not great.
I really enjoyed this, I am not one to pick up a Shakespear play for interest, the reason I needed to watch the DVD was because I was doing an evening GCSE course, I feel you get more into it and get to know the charactors alot more and understand the story line because you get to actually visualise the play.
I would recommend it for any level of education or for personnal use because I would watch it again. The picture quality is not great but ... ...scene!
The only disavantage is that the film is over two hours long so you do have to make the time to watch it and I do recommend writing note as you go along and to also use the film as a visualisation of the play but refer to the book. ...

A Definitive Classic Story of Love
Advantages: The definitive love story. Disadvantages: You will cry, like it or not!
...is the classic of all love stories..They meet in some 1960's USA library, in their flares with their quirky ways and beautifully fresh faces and all the time this haunting piano music cascades through the background...He's persistent, she's aggressive, they get to know one another and fall in love, in pure fresh youthful love, which is never unadulterated... From beginning to end it is enchanting, engaging and so innocent. It is believable from the ...
