A great film for grown ups
Review of Amores Perros (Love's A Bitch) (Subtitled) by mugpunter

Advantages: Fantastic - profound, exciting, visceral, moving all the qualities of myth or fable
Disadvantages: A little heavy on the blood and guns

This is a long way from being a Hollywood "guns solve all problems" action movie although there are are enough similarities to keep you on the edge of your seat. This is a brilliantly structured set of interlocking fables which in a very short space of time and at breathless speed take you through a set of moral questions and human dillemas. The tone moves from comic to violent to tragic the action from rapid cut dog fights to the talking head of ... Read review

Bale's original Dark Knight
Review of American Psycho DVD by Cosmo_Kramer

Advantages: Very funny
Disadvantages: Can put people off with sexual language

...it him that is the american psycho, or the society in which he lives that's the real psycho. Willem Dafoe is good in a small role as a detective investigating the disappearance of one of Bateman's work colleagues, and there's other glorified cameos that you could call them from the likes of Reese Witherspoon and Jared Leto, as Bateman's main office rival. There are a few shocking scenes, but these are also counter weighed with some very black humour ...
...the same way again). The movie is quite short but it's a must own, especially to see a somewhat crazy early incarnation of Bale's Bruce Wayne. I would also like to advise that although the movie would seem very violent, it's not overly graphic and it happens alot of screen or obscured from view. Be aware however there can be some strong sexual language in it. ... Read review

.... The story brings the audience to the lavishly decorated prison cell of the Marquis in the Mental Asylum of 'Charenton' in France where he worked on an array of books and volumes, many which he didn't complete and many which have never been published or produced. If I ever saw it...this is how it would look
Review of Traffic DVD by j22o2

Advantages: Its Excellent
Disadvantages: quite graphic

...The Concept Traffic is a really intelligent look at the world of drug trafficking and offers a broad scale of insight. We see the trafficking process from its beginning in Mexico where attempts at its deterrence are much beleaguered by corruption, through to America's infinitely more constitutional attempt at tackling the problem. We are also the given the chance to see the happy upper class lives of those responsible for the drugs distribution ...
...the street and its effect on individuals and their families. The film involves countless harrowing scenes of habitual drug use and lacks the glamour with which drugs are all too often associated with these days. The flagrant snorting of cocaine and disturbing scenes involving both the smoking and injecting of Heroine are intensely compelling and the audience is not patronised or guarded from the rawness of these acts in any way. This makes the film ... Read review
