Advantages: Fantastic - profound, exciting, visceral, moving all the qualities of myth or fable Disadvantages: A little heavy on the blood and guns
This is a long way from being a Hollywood "guns solve all problems" action movie although there are are enough similarities to keep you on the edge of your seat. This is a brilliantly structured set of interlocking fables which in a very short space of time and at breathless speed take you through a set of moral questions and human dillemas. The tone moves from comic to violent to tragic the action from rapid cut dog fights to the talking head of ...

Advantages: Very funny Disadvantages: Can put people off with sexual language
...it him that is the american psycho, or the society in which he lives that's the real psycho.
Willem Dafoe is good in a small role as a detective investigating the disappearance of one of Bateman's work colleagues, and there's other glorified cameos that you could call them from the likes of Reese Witherspoon and Jared Leto, as Bateman's main office rival.

...The Concept
Traffic is a really intelligent look at the world of drug trafficking and offers a broad scale of insight. We see the trafficking process from its beginning in Mexico where attempts at its deterrence are much beleaguered by corruption, through to America's infinitely more constitutional attempt at tackling the problem. We are also the given the chance to see the happy upper class lives of those responsible for the drugs distribution ... ...the street and its effect on individuals and their families. The film involves countless harrowing scenes of habitual drug use and lacks the glamour with which drugs are all too often associated with these days. The flagrant snorting of cocaine and disturbing scenes involving both the smoking and injecting of Heroine are intensely compelling and the audience is not patronised or guarded from the rawness of these acts in any way. This makes the film ...

Requiem For A Dream is a terrific and traumatic vision that perceptively captures the subconscious minds of people whose dreams are eating away at them.
