Advantages: Excellent acting, wonderful characters, beautiful scenery, historically accurate
Disadvantages: None

...rock shatters." – One Stab, Legends of the Fall If you ever find yourself with 2 hours and 7 minutes to fill, and want a front seat on the sort of emotional rollercoaster that will leave you weepy and drained, then look no further than Legends of the Fall. It has all of the elements that are needed for a real epic. Amistad - a true epic
Review of Amistad (Wide Screen) by Marechal_Grouchy

Advantages: An all-round epic with a good storyline and good acting
Disadvantages: Possibly not always historically-accurate

The movie is based on a historical 1839 legal battle which took place in the United States, after a group of slaves took control of a small ship, "La Amistad", and ended up on the shores of the New World, instead of their homes in Africa. The movie portrays this as having much to do with the duplicity of the Spanish navigator, whom the Africans take prisoner and unwisely decide to trust. Once in American custody, a number of claims are made as to ...
...those claiming ownership are the two surviving Spaniards from "La Amistad", Queen Isabella II of Spain, and two United States army officers who captured the slaves. Then, of course, there are the abolitionists, who want nothing less than the total destruction of slavery, which in 1839 was still a harsh reality in the nation's Southern states. Morgan Freeman plays a modest role as a member of the abolitionists, having been an ex-slave himself. He ... Read review

There will be blood - oh yes there will!!
Review of There Will Be Blood DVD by Spottydog11

Advantages: Spooky, mad movie
Disadvantages: A bit long

There Will be Blood - I think this title is very fitting for this movie. It's like a warning, there will be blood and oh my gosh, how definitely true this statement was. There Will be Blood is a 2007 film staring Daniel Day Lewis in the lead role. He actually went on to win the 2007 Academy Award for best Actor for his portrayal of Daniel Plainview. Overall the film was nominated for eight Academy Awards. The film is set in California at the turn ...
...first 15 minutes or so there is no talking and the only sounds we hear is from the spooky cello and piano music. The scenery is quite dark and definitely paints the landscape like it must have been back then. It really suits this type of work as well, the dark, loneliness of the oil fields. It makes prospecting for oil look extremely hard and dangerous and not something you want to be involved in if you are just a lowly worker. Daniel Plainview receives ... Read review

Not even worth £1!
Review of The Social Climber DVD by disasterinbloom

Advantages: There aren't any!
Disadvantages: Where do I start? Bad acting, rubbish storyline....

...figuired it didn't matter if the film itself was ruubish, as at that price was so cheap. Oh how I was wrong!..... The storyline is pretty basic, with Jennifer Love Hewitt being a spoilt rich girl who wants to "increase her social position" by climbing that 'social ladder'. Things is, I'll be honest: after an hour of the film I turned it off. I refuse to watch the rest of it! I am a fan of Miss Love Hewitt, but in this film her acting was appaling! ... Read review

Love it!!!
Review of Step Up 2 The Streets DVD by gaetana

Advantages: Dancing
Disadvantages: No real story line

WOW love this DVD cannot get enough of it. It's quite different to the first though.More dancing, BETTER dancing. I was watching this with my sister and my friends I just can't get enough of it. It's one to watch if you're either at home with friends or partner. If you like films such as Oceans eleven and thrteen then you'll love this. Though the dacing is good, wait no good is an under statement it's FABULOUS but it's got no organised story plot ...
...Definitely one to watch. It's aimed at teenagers more than grown adults. I would most definitely recommend this to any on to watch either on a night in. all in all i love it for me the film is the one of the most compared to 'save the last dance'. ... Read review
