Stoned on Conspiracy
Review of JFK (Director's Cut) by christianfilmcritic

Advantages: An epic thriller and a great DVD package
Disadvantages: None

...Opinion ********* Although JFK is based upon real events, director Oliver Stone has taken these and used a fair bit of poetic licence and created what is not only a modern day epic, but also a master class in how to make an exceptional movie. Even though the film does come across as slightly biased, with Oliver Stone using the big screen to demonstrate his opinions on the President Kennedy assassination, JFK is one of the most gripping movies to ...
...compelling film. But having watched JFK on numerous occasions, I honestly believe it gets better with each viewing, the story is still as thrilling as the first time and each time you notice something new or find yourself questioning something about the JFK assassination. ● Characters and Cast Even though the majority of characters in the film are based on real people involved in the President Kennedy assassination and the Garrison investigation, ... Go On, Take a Bite. I Dare Ya
Review of The Serpent's Kiss DVD by Entwife

Advantages: Intriguing characters skillfully portrayed, wonderful costuming and sets.
Disadvantages: Uneven pacing (too slow/too choppy in places) and it's too cryptic for most

...sin and temptation. Set in the late 1600's, Thomas Smithers (Pete Postlethwaite) is a typical citizen of the "civilized" world. He has more money than brain cells, and hardly an ounce of originality within reach. ;) Having acquired country property, he is determined to construct his bored, shallow wife the most beautiful garden imaginable. Which ought to cause everyone they know to flock about them with admiring oohs and aaahs as formal gardens are ...
...already growing wild there, or the woad that makes such wonderful, marketable blue dye. Cut it all down, damn the winds and send for the most renowned garden architect of the time, Meneer Chrome (Ewan MacGregor) himself! (Have to say I was highly amused at how one of the supporting characters insisted on calling him Manure.) While Juliana Smithers (Greta Scacchi) gives us evidence of having a bit more gray matter than her adoring husband, all his ... Read review

Sometimes you win sometimes you loose
Review of Match Point DVD by MI9to5

Advantages: Can be tense, shocking and unpredictable
Disadvantages: Appears to be a typical chick-flick on the surface

My reason for purchasing Match Point in the first instance was quite simple, Jonathon Rhys Myers was in it and for me that was as good an excuse as any to buy a new film. I'm so glad however that I did buy this film because not only does Rhys Myers play a fantastic part and look extremely handsome for the main but the film has become a firm favourite of mine. Chris (Jonathon Rhys Meyers) is an Irish tennis coach who after coaching Tom, the son of ...
..."There are moments in a match when the ball hits the top of the net and for a split second it can go either forward or fall back. With a little luck it goes forward and you win. Or maybe it doesn't and you lose." This line sums up the double-edged sword that the film is, as on more than one occasion the ball may go forward and Chris may uphold the life he has dreamed of but just as easily it may fall backwards and the world he has come to love may ... IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE. ******************************* Produced and Directed by Frank Capra. Starring: Jimmy Stewart as George Bailey. Donna Reed as Mary (Mrs Bailey). A Fantastic film well worth watching
Review of A Beautiful Mind DVD by PeterTruss26

Advantages: Good film rooted in a real life story with good performances by the actors
Disadvantages: None that I can think of

...enjoyed this film. It is a emotional story which has a few twist and turns to keep you on your toes with some action scenes enlivening it. This is as well as a gritty realism from the true story behind the film of John Nash's struggle with mental illness. Lead actor Russel Crowe puts in a convincing and engaging performance as the brilliant but afflicted mathamatician John Nash. All the characters work well with Connelly combining well with Crowe ...
