A real life love story
Review of Walk The Line DVD by
carter845
Advantages: Sticks to the facts
Disadvantages: Only tells half the story
This is the true life love story of Johnny Cash and June Carter which follows Johnny from his humble beginnings as a poor farmers son to his huge world wide success as a country singer. The movie explains how Johnny went from strength to strength as a performer, how he spiralled out of control due to drink and drug addiction and how he met and fell in love with the love of his life June Carter. The movie doesn't follow Johnny through his whole career ...

WHERE IS LOVE ?
Review of A.I. (Wide Screen) by
thingywhatsit
Advantages: entertaining and thought provoking
Disadvantages: a little too truthful about human behaviour
I had never seen this film before last night and it touched a nerve with me about how human beings are and what they stand for. It is a film based in the 21st century and is about a time when robots are made to serve human needs, such as for doing menial tasks; and even sophisticated enough to be able to give sexul pleasure, although the one thing lacking in the creation of these robots is the mystery of love and all that goes with it:
The inventor ... ...to make a child that loves although other scientists ask whether the human race merit this; and whether it would make mankind love them in return.
A child is created called David. He has no mallice, no conception of hate, although until he is imprinted or accepted by his parent; he is just a robot like any other: There is a ceremony which makes this child love, and the way in which the ceremony takes place is believeable and real all at the same ...

A biopic of Howard Hughes
Review of The Aviator DVD by
sunmeilan
Advantages: Interesting story, good acting
Disadvantages: Too darn long
...documentary about this film and the life of Howard Hughes just before Christmas and thought it looked like an interesting film, although Leonardo di Caprio seemed like an odd choice for the main character. The length of the film also put me off. Then one evening with absolutely nothing to watch on TV, I got it out. It would be hard to make a bad film about a man with a life like Howard Hughes', but even so, I was more impressed that I had expected ... ...with his own aeroplanes as the stars of the show. His sense of perfection led him to plough millions of dollars into the film and it was many years before the film was finally seen by the public. It was a huge success and solidified Hughes' career as a playboy film maker. He had a series of affairs, two of which with well-known actresses, Katherine Hepburn and Ava Gardner. At the same time, Hughes was battling with mental illness - obsessive compulsive ...

Coach Carter does impress
Review of Coach Carter DVD by
petery36
Advantages: Based on real events, inspirational, good basketball scenes
Disadvantages: Not enough main characters
Samuel L Jackson is Coach Carter in this great (true story) basketball movie. He used to be one of the best players from his high school which is Richmond. He becomes the coach of Richmond; a team that is performing very badly, not only on the court but also in the classroom. Jackson is brilliant in this movie and he not only turns around the way that the boys play but he also does his upmost to change their lives for the better. He makes all the ... ...well as changing their lives for the better. He is very strict towards them and it is very nice to watch how the boys change both their playing styles and their attitudes towards violence and their education. This movie has it all, it's funny, sporty and emotional. I really enjoyed it and so will all basketball fans or those just looking for an inspirational story. It is a true story and a very good one at that.
136 minutes runtime.

"Save The Last Dance"
Review of Save The Last Dance (Wide Screen) by
melliebird
Advantages: An outstanding film
Disadvantages: None what so ever
Hello People, I am writing my review based on the film "Save The Last Dance" which is an exceptional film which deals with issues relating to moving areas, racial issues, losing a loved one, making friends and falling in love…. I wouldn't class this as a chick flick film, I think it is one for everyone to watch and enjoy!! This film was directed by Thomas Carter and written by Duane Adler both the story and screen, it was released in 2001. The film ... ... Basic Storyline
