Have a LIttle Fishy In A Little Dishy
Advantages: Gripping tale of poverty, sex, affairs, theft, sheep stealing, dynamiting buildings. Disadvantages: weak middle part
...the mid 1970’s, which is when I first watched it, it is set immediately following the First World War. There are four series. A Total of 42.5 hours of very excellent TV. You get all this for £49.99 from Amazon, or £56.99 at Play.com. When I bought it cost about £120. I think this would make a great present for anyone over 50. Though I think younger people would get a great deal out of watching it. It shows how many people struggled to survive at ... ...sort of honary son. Though when his romance with Jessie ends acrimoniously as Jack has got his best friend’s sister pregnant the family take against him for a while. One of the most influential men in Jack’s life is Horatio Manners, this is the father of Jack’s captain in the army. The captain had died in Jack’s arms and he uses this to get in favour with Manners, who offers him a job. He turns this down when he marries Dolly sister to Matt, Jack’s ...

A collection worth owning
Advantages: A timeless collection, with a lot for your money. Disadvantages: Seems a lot of money.
...a fantastic box set, almost The Complete Works of Shakespeare in DVD form! The range and sheer volume of plays which is covered in this box set is phenomenal. The quality of the acting is incredible, and the plays, although all in the seemingly confusing Shakespearean language are accessible due to the talent of the actors and their outstanding performances. I cannot claim to have seen every one of the plays in this collection, however the majority, ... ...my school we were shown the BBC versions of whatever play we were studying at the time. Although some, like 'King Lear', have times similar to the sections on the heath which drag, the relationships between the characters and their warped intentions are cleverly but boldly outlined. The viewer is never at a loss as to what is going on, not least because of some clever use of costume, where characters are teemed in matching or complimenting colours ...

Tenko - Complete boxed set all 3 series
Advantages: excellent drama very well acted Disadvantages: very few extras
This is one of the best dramas of the 1980s. The box set has all 3 series and the bonus 'reunion' episode. The series concentrates on the women's POW camp. The three series are based on real life experiences. Despite this being an excellent drama it is not the type of thing you can say 'I enjoyed watching that' Despite it having a 12 certificate I personally wouldn't recommend it as suitable for anyone under 15.
During the three series we see the ... ...rations being cut, low medical supplies and death could only be around the corner for one or even all of the women. The cast are fantastic. Stephanie Cole (better known as Diana Trent in Waiting for God) as Doctor Beatrice and Burt Kwouk as the sinister Captain Yamauchi to name but two.
The cast changed slightly each series but I have given a quick write up of some of the major characters.
Dr Beartice Mason - As the first series starts she is the ...

Sex and the City
Advantages: funny, great performance Disadvantages: long
...so many exciting reviews on Sex and the City that I decided I watch it. It is a real chick flick romantic comedy and that evening it was the perfect entertainment for me. The film was written and directed by Michael Patrick King. Actually he was the co-producer of the film as well with Sarah Jessica Parker and Darren Star. Michael Patrick King is an American film director and screenplay writer. Besides Sex and the City he wrote the screenplay of ... ...balance. She and Steve have sex about twice a year and even then she is not so involved. She is hurt and devastated when Steve confesses that he had sex with another woman. Miranda separates immediately from him and sees no chance to forgive him. Charlotte has a happy family since they adopted Lily. She is a beautiful girl. Charlotte soon realises that since they gave up trying to have a baby she is pregnant. Can she carry out the baby? My opinion ...

There's final hits and final hits. What kind is this one to be?
Advantages: One Of The Best Films To Come Out Of The UK. Disadvantages: None!
...I first saw the film Trainspotting after hearing so much controversy about it on television, from reading about it in the newspapers and from everyone talking about it around me at the time. It was all everyone was talking about on it's release in 1996 and of course I just had to see it for myself to see what all the hype was about. Well I went to the pictures to watch this film and was quite shocked by this outrageously, yet brilliant tale of five ... ...ago that my husband purchased Trainspotting to add to our DVD collection as we both really enjoyed watching it over the years at various times on television (in a sick kind of way I guess). He picked it up second-hand for £1 at a car boot sale, so it certainly was a great bargain. This film really will not be suited to everyone though. I think you will either love it like I do, or absolutely hate it. It certainly is worth watching once though just ...
