One Tree Hill Rocks!
Review of One Tree Hill - Series 3 (Box Set) by wondergirlxx

Advantages: Fantastic Storylines
Disadvantages: Gag Reel

...series 1 & 2 of One Tree Hill, as the packaging is smaller, because there are 2 DVD discs in each case (Rather than 6 separate cases like series 1 & 2 ). This makes it easier to store on shelving. When you look on the extra features of this DVD box set it says that there is a "Gag Reel", but to be honest it did not make me laugh! I thought with 3 series of One Tree Hill filmed, and no "Gag Reels" on the other box sets that there would be more bloopers, ...
...a foreign language! One Tree Hill follows the lives of brothers, Lucas and Nathan Scott, and their friends and family. Nathan and Lucas share the same father, Dan Scott, however they have different mothers. Although the two of them are brothers, they grew up in totally different circumstances. Nathan lived with his mother and father, and had lots of money, which made him grow up into a very arrogant person and not a care in the world for anyone ... Read review

The Hill is Alive with the Sound of Sirens
Review of Hill Street Blues - Season 1 DVD by silverstreak

Advantages: Fast-paced drama, good characters, plenty of humour
Disadvantages: They stopped making it

...classic American police drama series Hill Street Blues to be afforded the same treatment, as least as far as the UK market is concerned. The show was first aired back in 1981, and amidst the deluge of police and crime series which have followed in its wake, it would be all too easy to dismiss the programme as just another American cop show, full of the usual car-chases, shoot-outs and general law and disorder. Hill Street Blues was much more than ...
...and Dixon of Dock Green, Hill Street Blues came as quite a shock to the system. True, we'd had our moments during the Seventies, watching Jack Regan and George Carter nicking villains and pulling birds in equal numbers in The Sweeney, but never before had a fictional television programme taken us right to the very heart of life in a tough, inner-city police station, nor portrayed both police and criminals as real human beings rather than stereotyped ... A K-PAXian in New York - A modern classic
Review of K-Pax (Wide Screen) by Olly_Plimsoll

Advantages: Direction, performances, taste
Disadvantages: Stuff has been cut!

...him to a psychiatric institution. K-PAX is the story of a psychiatrist attempting to convince this enigmatic stranger that he has constructed an elaborate delusional world. Based on a fantastic series of novels by Gene Brewer, the cast is headed by Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges. Kevin Spacey used to be an edgy and brilliant character actor. He’s still best known for his Oscar-winning role in American Beauty. Ever since, he has been playing dull ...
...his description of the planet K-PAX is so convincing. I mention that because in other places the dialogue is terrible. Much of the speech is taken from the books, which is rare enough, and in general it’s very effective, but there’s some really stilted moments between the members of Powell’s family. Never mind. Prot’s central claim about his alien existence is that he can travel along beams of light. This concept is grabbed by the director, who ... Read review

bad idea
Review of World Trade Center DVD by atytyut2434

Advantages: good commetary
Disadvantages: poor choice of subject

I don't think Hollywood should be making any movies about 9/11. Not this, not United 93. They would have been better served donating the money raised to finance this film to the families of those who lost people in the twin towers. I am amazed they only got 1 big Hollywood name to try and hang this whole film on. yes, Nicolas Cage sells tickets but not all on his own. there should have been at least a few other names. And don't try telling me Maggie ...
...or what else she's been in. This film really can only be watched in the DVD format with the commentary of the men who were there and the rescuers (which is included along with Oliver Stone's commentary. You will learn some interesting things you may not have previously known but this story was NEVER strong enough to be a movie. TV featurette maybe, movie, no way. Sorry. ... Read review
