One Tree Hill Rocks!
Review of One Tree Hill - Series 3 (Box Set) by wondergirlxx

Advantages: Fantastic Storylines
Disadvantages: Gag Reel

...series 1 & 2 of One Tree Hill, as the packaging is smaller, because there are 2 DVD discs in each case (Rather than 6 separate cases like series 1 & 2 ). This makes it easier to store on shelving. When you look on the extra features of this DVD box set it says that there is a "Gag Reel", but to be honest it did not make me laugh! I thought with 3 series of One Tree Hill filmed, and no "Gag Reels" on the other box sets that there would be more bloopers, ...
...a foreign language! One Tree Hill follows the lives of brothers, Lucas and Nathan Scott, and their friends and family. Nathan and Lucas share the same father, Dan Scott, however they have different mothers. Although the two of them are brothers, they grew up in totally different circumstances. Nathan lived with his mother and father, and had lots of money, which made him grow up into a very arrogant person and not a care in the world for anyone ... Read review

For all W.Wing Lovers, a DEFINITE!
Review of The West Wing - Complete Series 2 (Box Set) by bluetedgirl

Advantages: Fantastic series, great packaging, substantive!
Disadvantages: No special features

...has fallen in love with the exceptional prose of the West Wing writing staff (Namely Aaron Sorkin), and the believable and engaging acting of the stars within it, the second season had a lot to stand up to. But it steps up the drama completely. In fact the West Wing Series 2 won both Emmy awards and Golden Globe Awards for Best Drama. It most certaily deserved it. Headed again by the Presidential looking Martin Sheen - it follows the cast as they ...
...further the inter-relationships between the main characters and other less visible cast members. It follows them as they try and implement the legislation and acts they think matter and will help the American People. Sad times are to be had with the loss of a small part of the cast, but one special to most of us who grew to love her as she stood up to the President she had known since he was a young boy, Mrs Lanningham. Season 1 left a cliff-hanger ... Read review

You Like Games, John?
Review of Lost - Series 1 - Part 2 (Box Set) by Frankingsteins

Advantages: Plot develops in interesting and satisfying ways
Disadvantages: Too heart-warming at times. (I know, I have no soul).

...As the seasons of Lost continued, viewers who evidently watched only to receive fast and direct answers to the mysteries found their patience severely tested, to the point that the writers caved in to demand in the last half of season three. Although it can be a little annoying to see threads deliberately stretched, as they were in the disappointing second season, the pace of these earlier episodes is near perfect, each episode containing enough ...
...if anyone really does 'watch' Lost in that way because they find the episodes themselves a bit dull, they're kind of missing the point). The story is driven by the large ensemble cast of characters, whose stories don't always advance the 'main' plots, but are interesting and enigmatic enough in their own way. Somewhat disappointingly, the flashback cycle had already begun again by episode eleven, as Jack and then Kate received a second offering that ... Read review

Place All Preconceptions Aside
Review of The West Wing - Complete Series 6 (Box Set) by mace9114

Advantages: Dynamic, refreshing storyline
Disadvantages: Lacks direction of previous series

...as a tawdry sequel to the heights scaled by previous series of this magnificent drama should take another look. Admittedly, the pace and quick witted nature of the Sorkin era has been somewhat lacking since the creater's departure from the production team, but this in no way detracts from the series as a whole. The progression of the storyline is as captivating as ever and the final episdoe of WW6 is, in my opinion, one if the greatest ever produced. ...
...WW fanatic since series 1). The west wing is now home to increasingly few of our favourite characters, as they all set about defining their own futures. It seems inevitable that nothing will remain as it was in the 'good old days', but this adds to the dynamic feeling of the series. Each episode leaves you wondering what will happen next. For anyone in doubt about buying this dramatical masterpiece should place all preconceptions aside and buy it ... Read review

Kurusawa's best
Review of Rashomon DVD by turbulent

Advantages: an amazing movie
Disadvantages: i couldn't find any

From the moment I saw Roshomon, it has been my all time favorite. In a span of an year, I guess I have seen it more than 10 times. Roshomon, is an amazing movie about basic human nature. It is about an incident as described by several people around whom it was involved. Kurusawa insists that there is no truth as such - we all modify it to suit ourselves and to project ourselves in a better light. The movie ends on a very positive note that there ...
...The photography in the movie is excellent and a virtual visual treat. It is a black and white movie and the touch of grey adds to it. I am not very sure of it but I have heard someone say that Kurusawa always shot his movies in sequence and the rain etc are real. I strongly recommend it to any movie lover interested in parallel cinema. ... Read review
