Charmed Season 1
Review of Charmed - Series 1 (Box Set) by melliebird

Advantages: 22 episodes to watch over and over again
Disadvantages: No extra features...unfortunately

...am writing this review on Charmed Series 1, which is where it all begins there is 8 series in total unfortunately there will not be a series 9 which i am gutted about as it really was a good program to watch. About Charmed It is based around 3 witches, who are sisters and are the "power of three" very strong modern day witches. The 3 Halliwell sisters are Piper (Holly Marie Combs), Phoebe (Alyssa Milano) and Prue (Shannon Doherty). Its only ...
...house (this is the base for the show and spoken of as the Manor) and found "the book of shadows", Pheobe is the one who finds it and reads out aloud the first page which is off course a spell to give the 3 sisters there powers. They protect the innocent and vanquish the evil demons and off course being sisters they bicker alot!! There mum died when they was young to a water demon, there dad divorced there mum when they was younger as the mum went ... Read review

Fourth Time Around
Review of The Sopranos - Series 4 - Complete DVD by sigmatech

Advantages: Continuation of a groundbreaking drama
Disadvantages: Adult drama, with adult language, and extreme violence

...was a low point for the Sopranos in many fans estimation, and I initially agreed with some of their sentiments unlike earlier seasons I found myself glancing at the clock occasionally during some episodes waiting for the story to kick in. The first time I watched this season I did think that maybe the show had peaked and was on the wind down, bereft of ideas the writers were content to give us endless minutes of Tony and Carmela arguing as their ...
...anywhere. I waited patiently for the Season to get going whilst my finger hovered over FF button on the remote. The Season eventually did get going and produced some worthy and memorable episodes, but the Show as a whole didn't grip me the way Seasons 1 through 3 did. Maybe it was my expectations that were at fault, the Sopranos had raised the crossbar so high that it was nay on impossible to sustain the momentum. At least that was my initial impression ... Life On Mars - Series Two
Review of Life On Mars - Series 2 (Box Set) by cheesman88

Advantages: A great continuation of a fanstastic series
Disadvantages: It's the last series. Some might find the conclusion unsatisfiying.

The second series of Life on Mars continues Sam Tyler's journey that began in the first series. If you haven't seen the first series then this set won't make complete sense to you, though I think series two could stand alone as the first was fairly self-contained and had its own overal story to tell. Series Two is a little more arc orientated, being the last series, and every episode takes the story another step towards its conclusion. So to the ...
...setting. The essence of Life on Mars is that of a traditional cop show. Series Two dives straight into the story, and the credits sequence gives a quick rundown of what the series is about. In 2006 Sam Tyler is a rather excellent policeman. He is struck down by a car and wakes up in 1973. Sam's monologue at the start of the titles sequence gives us the core questions that drives the series. Has he really traveled back in time? Is he in a coma? Or ... Read review

Review of Lost - Series 2 - Part 1 (Box Set) by Frankingsteins

Advantages: New setting and introduction of DHARMA add intrigue.
Disadvantages: Takes too long to arrive nowhere by the half-way point.

...episodes of the series. Watching Lost back in hindsight as an extended novel-for-television, a novel that is now over half complete, season two both builds upon the introduction offered in season one as well as introducing entirely new elements presumably as the writing team realised that this hugely successful show had a few more years left in it. This DVD set contains the first twelve episodes of season two, the set-up to the set-up, and is very ...
...similar extensively plotted TV series, Lost really does test my patience, here more than anywhere else. Even within the first two episodes of season two, it's clear that the path ahead is going to be very long and very tedious, as both episodes end on the very same scene, reached from two different forty-five-minute-long angles, and are finally concluded in episode three by the presumed man with the answers (in the form of Desmond) running off, not ...
