Wetherspoons is a wonderful place ~ it gives me the chance to try new ales at reduced prices. We were in there on Wednesday night and tried one or two different beers ~ purely in the interests of research of course. To be fair there wasn?t as big a choice as normal, so we ended up trying a beer that we had tasted before. I had been meaning to write about this one when I first had it, so this gave me a push in the right direction. The beer we sampled was B & T Dragonslayer.
B & T brewery was formed in 1981 under the name of Banks & Taylor, but was renamed to its present title in 1994. The brewery is based in Shefford, which is in Bedfordshire, and they continue to produce a selection of cask ales and bottle conditioned beers. Advantages: Pure heavy metal! Disadvantages: Very few
In 2004 I turned down a chance to see Dream Evil play with Labyrinth and Power Quest. Dream Evil had just released their third album entitled "The Book of Heavy Metal" and were touring on the back of it. I wasn't familiar with any of these bands very well at the time. Little did I know that all 3 would eventually be amongst my favourite power metal bands along side all the greats. I have never regretted a decision so much as I did this one. Soon after this event I actually bought Dragonslayer and I realised by elementary mistake.
This is their very first album but it doesn't sound like the work of a band still perfecting their trade. This isn't surprising when you consider that the band was put together by none other than the metal producing deity that is Fredrik Nordstrom. I have to admit that Fimbles are not one of my favourite children?s programmes though my daughter loves it so we decided to go and get her a DVD so when we wanted to watch something on the television, she could watch it happily on the laptop ? which she enjoys doing as its mummy?s laptop and she isn?t meant to touch it!
The Fimbles are Fimbo, Florrie and Baby Pom, who all live in a lovely, colourful place called Fimble Valley. The Fimbles are cuddly hippo like creatures each with lovely colourful ?skins?.
