Advantages: Good film with excellent special effects Disadvantages: none
good and evil, but with cutting edge special effects and action scenes galore this is a great film to watch.
The blu-ray version i watched was a 2 disc set with the second disc full of extras. There was a section on the history of transformers, and interviews with executive producers Steven Spielberg and Brian Goldner, writers Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci, and director Michael Bay. There were also features on the animation used and the way they worked out where to do scenes. You also get a look at the military equipment seen and used in the film.
This additional information is something you do not want to skip over, because it gives you a much deeper understanding of how much planning and work went into the final production. If you are into cutting edge special effects and head banging action then beg, borrow, rent, or if that fails buy ...
Advantages: People have loved much worse films. Disadvantages: If your a fan of Toriyama you probably won't let yourself like it.
DragonballEvolution!!!
Being based loosely on Akira Toriyama's manga "Dragonball" means that people reading this review will fall into three categories; Die-hard fans of the manga, people who have seen the trailer for the film and want to know more, and of course those who stumble across it wondering what on earth a Dragonball is.
Allow me to bring you down to Toriyama's level;
DragonballEvolution represents the Dragonballs faithfully. As can be seen on the DVD cover a Dragon ball is an orange-sized orange-coloured magic ball with a number of stars (from 1-7) on the side. When the seven balls are brought together the dragon Shenlong can be called forth to grant the caller one "perfect wish".
Still with me?
Good, because you're the only one who is. If you aren't a fan of the manga then chances are you know somebody who is and as such ...
Advantages: Great action, some great comedy and sticks with some of the original storyline Disadvantages: Alright-ish acting, too short, and bad director.
As many people know, DragonballEvolution is based on the highly popular Manga and Anime series. I have just finished watching the film and ALOT of people think it was a terrible film and was absolutly pathetic.
THEY'RE TOTALLY WONG! (See what i did there? The director is... James... Wong... :l YOU HAVE NO SENSE OF HUMOR XD)
I saw the film and thought it was great. The storyline was great, the effects were great, the characters were great. IT WAS ALL GREAT!
The film is about Goku who is about to turn 18. For his birthday, he is given the 4-star-dragonball by his Grandpa Gohan. He is asked to keep this safe as its Gohans second greatest treasure (Goku being his first). But instead of attending Gohans birthday meal, he'd rather go to his high school love Chi Chi's party. But whilst he is gone, Piccolo arrives with Mai at Goku ...

Enjoyable action-adventure enlivened by likeable performances, fast-paced direction and a script that's smart enough to cover a few teen movie bases along the way. (ViewLondon, 23/07/2009)
