The Bruce Lee Story
Last night I sat in at watched this movie on TV, I am not very into martial arts but I like life stories so I watched it.
Basic Intro…
It started off as Bruce Lee as a young boy living in china with his father and his father is teaching him how to fight and defend himself in the real world. His father had no choice but to send his son away once he was old enough in order for him to have a better life. So off he went to America where he ended up washing dishes for a living as he was seen very different by the Americans. One day as he was working out in the gym, he was spotted for his moving skills and his fighting skills and was asked to teach the people what he knows. So, he started teaching his fighting moves, it started with 2 boys, then 1 girl, then a huge class. It was this class where he met his wife and his career started……
Jason Scott Lee Stars as Bruce Lee, and he was brilliant in this movie, he had the look, he had the body and had the moves… He was untouchable. I enjoyed watching Jason star as Bruce, he played the character perfect, and really helped you understand the life and love and pain that Bruce went through in his life. He was so good in parts that you forget he is only an actor and not the man himself, as I don't know much about Bruce Lee, it helped me really understand. Lauren Holly stars as Linda Lee Crawford, the young lady who decided to join his fighting class, who then fell for her teacher and married him. I thought she was very good, she portrayed the character very well, as a white woman in America dating a Chinese man, going against her family's wishes to be with the man she loved. Very good. I really like her as an actress, she is brilliant.
Apparently this movie is not totally factual to the true life of Bruce lee, but it is based on the autobiography of his wife Linda Lee Caldwell, but I believe most of this movie has to be true as it is the writing of his own wife who knows him better than anyone. She wrote an autobiography called "The Man Only I Knew". So I would say its probably 90% factual.
I very much enjoyed this film; I didn't think I would as I don't like watching fighting films, but it was very interesting to see the life of a man who was so much loved by so many people. I enjoy watching life movies as to people like me, lives of movie stars are a mystery, and its nice to see how the other side live. The cast were great, the good ones and the baddies played their characters to perfection. There were a few baddies in the movie, who you just hate throughout the movie, their evil and it does make you go mad when you see them, I know I did - pure evil.
There was a few moments in the film also where I had to close my eyes as I couldn't watch some of the scenes, they were very graphic and painful, and these scenes really made you feel for the character performing them. But beside all them, it was a really good movie, I loved the acting, the casting, the storyline of his life and it sounded like Bruce lee was a tremendous man and deserved all the love he got from his fans - Very Sad of his Sudden death at only the age of 32… He was missed by many. To All those who like to critise my reviews - i have ticked FILM ONLY and have mentioned i seen it on television and not on DVD.
