My Experience
With reasons like that, I was really looking forward to watching this film, ‘The Best Horror since Saw’, I am not too good with horrors but considering the other choice was Star Trek which I am not planning to watch at the cinema, let alone on DVD, we decided to watch this film.
We sat down and the first 20/30 minutes of the film seemed to be really good, it had good suspense moments, the old woman Mrs Ganush did make us hide behind our hands when she started taking out her teeth and stuff, but then comes the cursing scene and then we realised how terrible this film seriously was
going to be.
There was a few families watching this film at the cinema with us, the two at the front just sat there, no jumping, no cringing and definitely no laughing, us 3 families at the back, we were having to control ourselves from falling over as we were laughing so hard at times, for the wrong reasons.
The Plot
When a loan officer is ordered to evict an old woman from her home, she is faced with a supernatural curse from the old woman which means within 3 days, a demon will come and drag her to hell. She turns to a seer to find a way to survive this evil curse.
Is it the Best Horror since Saw?
Damn NO. Christine played by Alison Lohman is terrible in the film; her acting ability makes the film even worse.
After she gets cursed, she gets all types of bad things happening to her, one of the main things that happens is the old woman (with no teeth) starts knowing on her chin, literally slobber everywhere, as well as that she gets a nose bleed, squeezes her nose and blood goes everywhere.
The whole film was just badly scripted and I was embarrassed for Justin Long to be in a film this bad as I really do like him as an actor. Sam Raimi has created probably the worst horror I’ve ever seen in my life, it is so hard to explain how stupid this film is, because even if I wrote down exactly what happens, you have to see to believe how stupid everything is.
Is it scary at all?
There are a few jump out of your seat moments, the one that got me the most, was when I was rolling around on the floor laughing, a face jumped out of the screen almost and that made me jump. Everything else was just poor comedy.
==It’s Funny? So does that mean it’s good? ==
No, it’s funny for all of the wrong reasons, talking goats, blood flying out of her nose every where, bad acting and dancing demons, none of this equals a good film. If we actually thought it would get us anywhere we would have asked for our money back. For three of us it came to about £17, this film is not even worth a quid to watch it, it is just pure terrible.
The Cast
Alison Lohman was awful, me and my sister are struggling with working out what she was in that we know her from, even after looking at her bio we still can’t work it out. She can’t act though, there were certain scenes when you started cringing at her bad acting.
Lorna Raver played the old curse lady, she is just discussing in this film, she is the one that does act brilliantly, kind of. She does make you feel ill in places.
Justin Long was pretty good in the film, he was the normal guy who delivered a great performance.
Final Opinion
The whole film was jut stupid, the reason why you may jump in the film, is because the
cinema turns up the volume to max and when the soundtracks starts to get louder, you feel it through your seats. If you’re not good with loud noises then this film is not for you.
The film was just stupid, Allison Lohman was covered in blood, puke, guts and saliva the whole film, all from people’s mouth and things, it just made me feel really ill.
I have to say though, I am obviously one of a very small minority that thinks this film is absolute crap, a lot of people find it stupidly funny, but they say it’s the best thing that Sam Raimi’s ever directed and they were seriously scared when they watched the film. The only reason you jump is cause of the loud noises, you do feel pukey throughout the film though.
