Double Team is a cheesy movie, in all honesty, but is there to be taken in a not overly serious light. For a start, it starts the Muscles from Brussels himself, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and along with him Dennis Rodman in a somewhat quirky film debut. The big man has some unfortunately wooden basketball-related lines which he is forced to deliver (and does so very woodenly) but humourously enough to be overlooked. The actual plot is exciting and all one can ask for in an action movie. There exists a place where all criminals or anti-terrorists of the highest calibre thought to be dead are kept alive and used in the fight against counter-terrorism. Rourke plays a good terrorist, and there is enough to keep action fans happy – but watch out for the ridiculous product placement throughout the film.
