price.
The film has a 15 certificate and does contain some sex scenes that are not overly graphic.
The DVDI borrowed was a two-disc collectors' edition, disc two being dedicated to extras. The first of these is an interview with director Krystof Kieslowski (1991) that lasts about fifty-five minutes and includes several excerpts of the shooting of 'The Double Life of Veronique'. Kieslowski talks about film-making in Poland since 1970 as well as about his personal attitudes. He explains that he switched from making documentaries because he was more interested in people's innermost thoughts and feelings. He always wants the various members of the crew to contribute something personal to his films. He talks about our responsibility for other people, and sees the main message of 'The Double Life of Veronique' as being 'live more carefully ...

Rewriter that most computers have these days).***
With both drive bays taken up on my PC, I decided on an external DVD Writer drive. Although more expensive than internal drive, it could easily be connected to my lap top should I wish to take my masterpieces and inflict them on people who didn't own DVD players. I jest of course!
In PC world, there were several external DVD drives on the shelves, but having had an external CD writer by Freecom which had been extremely reliable, I opted for the High Speed (USB2) Classic DVD+/-RW Double Layer model. It was the most expensive at just over £120 at the time (much cheaper now, see below), but the best available.
The Hardware:
In the box was a black DVD RW which was slim and lightweight (it was also available in white), the USB connector cable, the power transformer/cable (PSU- power ...
Advantages: Pure pleasure, a wonderful classic film - who needs colour!!! Disadvantages: Dated for some and you'll need he tissues
"On the barren Yorkshire moors in England, a hundred years ago, stood a house as bleak and desolate as the wastes around it. Only a stranger lost in a storm would have dared to knock at the door of Wuthering Heights."
WUTHERING HEIGHTS
FILM 1939 ...DVD 2004
Anyone who has been reading my recent reviews may have noticed that I have been indulging in a lot of nostalgia by watching DVD's of all my old favourite classics. My latest purchase from Amazon for the grand price of £3.24 was the 1939 'Wuthering Heights' adapted from Emily Bronte's classic novel.
This was the first film dramatization of Emily Bronte's 1847 masterpiece, with a screenplay written by Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur (concentrating on the first two-thirds or 17 chapters of the 34 chapter book).

Includes the Barbara Stanwyck films DOUBLE INDEMNITY and ALL I DESIRE. In DOUBLE INDEMNITY, the story is told by the dying Walter Neff, beginning with his first meeting with the seductive Phyllis Dietrichson during a routine renewal of her husband's car insurance. After some flirtation she arranges a meeting without her husband, where she asks about an accident policy to be bought without her husband's knowledge. Although repulsed by the implications of her suggestions, his obsession with Phyllis leads Neff to contemplate the possibility of finding a way to kill her husband while making his death look like an accident. After she comes to his apartment, the insurance salesman finally agrees to become involved in the murder, and the two of them begin methodically working out the details. After they dispose of Dietrichson, Neff learns more than he wanted about Phyllis' unsavoury past, but realises he's now too involved to extricate himself. He's also concerned about his a boss, an omniscient insurance investigator who has taken over the case. In ALL I DESIRE, a star of the stage returns to the small town where her family lives, causing a commotion in the town.
