Dora the Explorer is a cartoon aimed at pre-school children. It is inter-active, encouraging children to play along in the adventures. It's aim is to encourage problem solving in pre-schoolers by encouraging them and helping them to work through a problem.
Dora is a character in a computer programme. In each episode she encounters programmes, and the child is then asked to answer a question. There is a gap between the question being asked and the answer eing given on the show, allowing time for the child to answer.
Dora speaks English but also speaks Spanish. The programme uses basic Spanish words and asks the child to repeat them. This helps them with basic knowledge of Spanish.

Advantages: Educational and alot of Fun Disadvantages: None I can find
...and Spanish and have some excellent catchy songs.
The main character as you can probably guess is Dora, she is the bilingual heroine. She has a very cheerful nature and a very inquisitive mind and as such seems to captured the hearts of both children and parents. Her main friend in the DVDs and books is a monkey called Bootsand they have their cohorts map and backpack which accompany them on their many adventures. Their rival is a wiley fox who goes by the name of Swiper.
These adventures seem to encourage interaction and physical activity, whilst teaching basic counting and logic skills as well as Spanish. In this particular DVD everyone appears to have lost something even Swiper. Dora is missing her teddy bear and Tico is missing his keys. So Dora and Boots invite you to travel with them through the Lost City in order to locate and retrieve...

....even now as i type my one year old daughter is shouting Dora boots backpack map at the picture on the screen if your child likes or loves Dora this is a good disc set it has the Christmas show taking a gift to Santa. rapido tico getting boots the monkeys firetruck. quack quack helping baby duck get back to mommy duck. school pet when her pet mimo goes missing. Dora on her adventures with boots getting help from backpack, map and her Friends whilst avoiding the naughty fox swiper who takes there stuff and throws it away (swiper is very loved in my house ) all the while teaching them Spanish and counting and colours very educational it gets on my nerves but it is not for me excellent for kids...
