Review of The Forgotten Bomber The Story Of The Blenheim Bomber by
SteveMason77
Advantages: Accurate Facts
Disadvantages: not much use to people not into Warbirds
This DVD is all about the Bristol Blenheim, a Fighter/Bomber that is still very welcome on the Airshow Curcuit today.
When Lord Rothermere (Owner of the Daily Mail) Said to Aircraft Manufacturers in 1935 that he wanted them to build a Twin Engine Monoplane that was equal to Aircraft being built overseas he felt it would be the best in the world.
Little did he know that Trouble was brewing in Mainland Europe and his Creation would go on to serve ... ...II.
Yet, as the Title of the DVD States, the Blenheim is the "Forgotten Bomber" as virtually no-one remembers the Aircrafts contribution to the Defense of This Country.
On the Blenheims First test flight it proved itself so fast at over 300mph it left the R.A.F.s Front line fighters standing as it outran them by 50mph. Lord Rothermere had named the Aircraft "Britain First" , A truly patriotic name for a home designed & built aircraft.
In July ...

World War Two in Colour, Face to Face
Review of World War II In Colour - Face To Face DVD by
Martinscholes
Advantages: Well put together programme
Disadvantages: Featured only American troops
World War Two In Colour Face to Face is a truly remarkable documentary film. It consists of rare colour film footage, shot during the evil and desperate days that made up the Second World War. The film was, in the main, all shot by film cameramen who were military personnel. Who genuinely braved the same hardships and difficulties that beset their military colleagues, compatriots and fellow combatants.
As the commentary on the DVD points out, the ... ...in six men who, during World War Two, did experience the hell and horror of the Second World War. But whose efforts and heroic deeds and ordinary acts were recorded. But not in Black and White. But in colour.
There are also the voices of the War Correspondents. Not civilian journalists "embedded" (a strange choice of words) in a unit. No, these correspondents were military personnel. The first correspondent's voice heard on the programme is that ...

Disadvantages: Not long enough
Anyone who has seen the Spitfire in Flight and heard the roar of the Merlin will tell you that it's a Sound of freedom and the sight of Her elliptical wings in the sky stirs feelings in your stomach.
This DVD will take you through the History of this Classic Warbird from it's roots with the S.5 Seaplane to the Aircraft we are still fortunate to see in the air today!
When Mr Reginald Joseph Mitchell designed the Supermarine S.5 Seaplane to enter ... ...started on the base of an Aircraft that still captures hearts today.
In 1936 a Prototype Aircraft with the Ministry of Defence number F37/34 had completed Ground Trials and engine run-up tests. This Aircraft had the Registration K5054. (A well known Reg in Aviation Circles)

Advantages: Tells you important Dates
Disadvantages: -
...myself," he once said, "but I couldn't speak for the millions they killed."
In 1986, he succeeded in having gypsy representatives included on the Holocaust Memorial Council in Washington DC. His biggest disappointments were his failure to secure the capture of Gestapo chief, Heinrich Muller, and Auschwitz doctor, Josef Mengele, who died in Brazil in 1978. Simon Wiesenthal died in the Austrian capital, Vienna, aged 96. Mr Wiesenthal died in his sleep ...

Charley and Ewans first adventure.
Review of Ewan McGregor And Charley Boorman - Long Way Round (Director's Cut) (Special Edition) by
wildtinsey
Advantages: More detailed than the TV series
Disadvantages: Not everyones taste
...of the first trip that Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman made together on motorbikes.
The DVD i am reviewing is the 2 disc set which contains both unseen and extended footage.
The trip took a long time to play and ultimately was a journey from London to New York via Europe, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Siberia, USA and Canada.
The DVD covers the entire television series.
The way the two discs are split is disc one conatins episodes ... ...disc has the remaining episodes on , namely 4, 5, 6 and 7. The total running time is about 6 hours so ideally you wont want to watch them in one sitting.
The extras are the unseen material, the photo gallery and the exclusive post trip interview.
The DVD's start with the planning stage where they have to trial possible motobikes that may be suitabel for a trip like this, they settle on either a KTM or BMW. Those that have watched the series will ...
