The Most Concise World War 2 Documentary ever
Review of The World At War (Box Set) by
ak481
Advantages: Many Key Witnesses Available for commentary
Disadvantages: Very few stock images in colour.
The World at War Series is refreshingly unique, with the strong powerful voice of Laurence Olivier as Narrator, it offers an insight into both sides of the war, and best of all, alot of the key witnesses or participants of major events were still alive at the time of this documentary so a phenominal amount of commentary was available making this one of the most coverted History sets ever.
It even goes onto describe the end of the War in Germany, ...

A Private Enterprise
Review of The Forgotten Bomber The Story Of The Blenheim Bomber by
SteveMason77
Advantages: Accurate Facts
Disadvantages: not much use to people not into Warbirds
This DVD is all about the Bristol Blenheim, a Fighter/Bomber that is still very welcome on the Airshow Curcuit today.
When Lord Rothermere (Owner of the Daily Mail) Said to Aircraft Manufacturers in 1935 that he wanted them to build a Twin Engine Monoplane that was equal to Aircraft being built overseas he felt it would be the best in the world.
Little did he know that Trouble was brewing in Mainland Europe and his Creation would go on to serve ... ...II.
Yet, as the Title of the DVD States, the Blenheim is the "Forgotten Bomber" as virtually no-one remembers the Aircrafts contribution to the Defense of This Country.
On the Blenheims First test flight it proved itself so fast at over 300mph it left the R.A.F.s Front line fighters standing as it outran them by 50mph. Lord Rothermere had named the Aircraft "Britain First" , A truly patriotic name for a home designed & built aircraft.
In July ...

'The Gone With The Wind Of The Horror Genre!'
Review of Halloween - 25 Years Of Terror DVD by
iGayParis
Advantages: original, flawless transfer of Halloween 1 included!
Disadvantages: Documentary which is what my criteria answers are based on could have been better!
...eight movies in the original Halloween series (excluding Rob Zombie's remake) are actually scary in any way! The first, way back in 1978, the second in 1980 and the seventh (H20) in 1998! But there are others, lets not forget Halloween 3,4,5,6 and 8! This may not be, as a whole, the best and most consistent horror series in the world but obviously it's been doing something right to last so long and still be going strong today in 2008, 30 years on...It's ... ...about in 2003 at 'The Halloween Returns To Haddenfield Convention' where a fan emailed the Convention Organiser, Anthony Masi, asking him if it was okay to film the event. Mr Masi agreed and decided that they could sell the footage of the Convention as a dvd for the sheer ammount of dissapointed fans unable to attend. 40 hours of footage was recorded and a couple of weeks after, watching the footage, they decided that this could be turned into something ...

Living the dream.
Review of Escape To River Cottage DVD by
marilynmonroelike
Advantages: Watch when you want to - factual - great recipes.
Disadvantages: None
I have watched this DVD a dozen times now i think - its lovely a to see how Hugh enthuses about the simple life - growing your own veg, raising animals, and being self sufficient...as I also live on a small farm I get immense pleasure watching his trials and successes because I can relate to them myself. If you hanker for the country life this DVD is a wonderful introduction to what to expect - the fruits of your labours are very rewarding and the ... ...friendly as you see them in the dvd. In my area the going rate for meat swapping is 1/2 sheep = 1/4 cow :) not a bad deal LOL ..... if your a 'townie' and simply want to sit back and watch someone get dirty and cook great food you will also love this because its funny, light hearted and has some devine recipes. Highly recommended to everyone . ...

Review of In The Hands Of The Gods DVD by

Disadvantages: Unknown actors
In The Hands of The Gods
***May Contain Spoilers"""
Having seen this film at the cinema last September i thought that hiring this DVD would give me a better chance to review this film.
Based on a true story about 5 young teenagers primary ambitions to see Diego Maradona. The footballing legend who memorably knocked out England from the World Cup back in '86 with his famous "hand of god". The team of 5 known as Woody, Danny, Mikey, Jeremy, and ... ...of the movie, I was in no doubt convinced that this is a low budget film. In some respects it gives a flavour of different parts of North and South America, along with parts of North England, so this film does make a subtle contribution as having some value as a travel review. Making money by busking is the groups main priority and early on Woody jokingly suggests at a BBC london radio interview that the group "intend to make so much money that they ...
