What an artist!!
Review of No Direction Home: Bob Dylan DVD by
drpmulay
Advantages: its one of the best dvds i have bought
Disadvantages: nothing
The first time I heard Bob Dylan was in the wonder boys soundtrack ' Things have changed'. I loved it. There was something in his music which struck a chord. I didnot follow up on this artist, when I saw the documentary on the television. I was quite pleased to know, there are people in this world for whom passion is a singular direction in life. I have been told by many people, that I do not do justice to my work, I took their advice. But after ... ...but I feel I have some of his spirit in myself. It tells about the influences, his contemporaries had on him, but how far ahead he was from them. One statement from the documentary stands out in my mind,' you are always in the process of being made, the longer you remain in that state, the better it is for you.' Thank you Bob for your music, and thank you Martin Scorsese for such a fantastic documentary. ...

Great documentry must see
Review of Tupac - Resurrection DVD by
UrbanChaos
Advantages: Great documentry must see.
Disadvantages: none
I've been a fan of Tupac Shakur for years, I would say I am a obsessive one. I own all of his albums and I've seen all of his movies. The new documentary, Tupac: Resurrection, answers just about every question anyone may have. So watch it
There have been many unauthorized movies about the life of Tupac, a.k.a. 2Pac, but this is the first one officially commissioned by his mother, Afeni Shakur. Tupac Amaru Shakur, born Lesane Parish Crooks, was born ... ...In September of 1996, Tupac was leaving the Mike Tyson-Bruce Seldon fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas with Death Row Records label head Marion "Suge" Knight when they were the victims of a drive-by shooting. On September 13, 1996, he passed away at the age of 25, six days after the shooting.
The movie is structured very much in the way that last year's The Kid Stays in the Picture was. They both overlap cutouts of the pictures of the subjects ...

Skills and Thrills
Review of MTV Barrio 19 DVD by
lustba
Advantages: Talents, Skills, Variety, Performance.
Disadvantages: Not for Everyone
...first saw Barrio 19 on MTV late one night last year, and was very impressed with it. As the product description states - "High-octane MTV series BARRIO 19 showcases young urban talent from around the globe. Each adrenaline charged half-hour episode takes you on a journey into the heart of urban street culture. Witness a variety of street-based performances, extreme stunts, and freestyle sketches--by skaters, magicians, footballers, martial artists, ... ...clearly do best. I think MTV have done well to bring these sorts of useless, but absolutely amazing nonetheless talents to our screens.
Another of my favouite clips comes from Brazil. In the beginning you plainly see a man walking down a very busy street playing a harmonica...there is nothing interesting about that. Until he starts beatboxing at the same time!! Using the air he is expelling to continually play the harmonica. Beatboxing and harmonica ...

Al Gore Talks His Way to a Poor Review
Review of An Inconvenient Truth DVD by
dan_the_turbanator
Advantages: Thought provoking, will learn alot about graphs and spreadsheets
Disadvantages: You may never want to go near Microsoft Excel again, tad boring
...follow (Super-Size Me for example), An Inconvenient Truth is essentially one of Al Gore's lectures, put onto film, with a few clips 'tacked on' to break up the never ending flow of graphs. Some just don't seem to fit with the nature of the film, for example, the clip of Al Gore losing the 2000 American elections. Although he does explain why it's important to his passion for global warming (unfortunately I wasn't convinced), its obvious the real ... ...going to the cinema, not an auditorium. Humour plays a small part in Gore's fight, with cartoons displaying simple-to-follow explanations of global warming, and stories that poke fun of the intellect of the American education system. Unfortunately, despite its best efforts to appeal to a wider audience, only scientists will be able to sit comfortably throughout the films running time. Some parts of the lecture have the American audience in stitches, ...
