Advantages: Discovery Channel production Disadvantages: a bit too short
...methods used to create the seven wonders of ancient Rome- the Pantheon, the aqueducts, the Via Appia, the baths of Caracalla, the markets of Trajan, the Circus Maximus and the Colosseum. It is really interesting especially for people who have had the chance to see these sights, it puts things into perspective. I was amazed when I visited the Colosseum and had some many questions about the way it was build around 2000years ago (89 AD) and that DVD ... ...uses superb CG graphics and 3D modelling to recreate brilliantly the key structures and architectual devices that made the Roman Empire famous.

Advantages: Informative and entertaining Disadvantages: none
My husband saw a couple of these programs a while ago and did nothing but rave about them. So when I saw the box set in Virgin for £10.99 I had to buy it to see what all the hype was about. I have to admit since starting to watch it, conversation has come to a grinding halt in our house due to the fact that I am glued to it. The set comes with 4 discs, each containing 3 x 45 minute long programs narrated by David Attenborough on different subjects ... ...Deserts to Jungles, etc. At the end of each program is a 10 minute "Diary" showing how they made the program and what the camera crew had to endure to get the filming. This is very funny to watch and almost worth buying the dvd for on its own. Its amazing to think that the 45 minutes of footage you have just seen can take up to a year in extreme conditions filming. There are no very gory bits in it, so it's fine for young children to watch, and doesn't ...
Advantages: educational, interesting & cheap to buy Disadvantages: feature length

Spectacular!! i thought i knew a few things about birds...
I have a long and strong interest in birds, with two pet sparrows, other close bird interests, and hundreds of hours studying robins, crows swifts, gulls, peacocks etc . Birds have been the main focus of my artwork. So i expected to enjoy the series but maybe not find a lot of new or surprising information. Wrong! Most of the content so far has been new to me, either species i had never heard ... ...i did know something about. After renting and watching half of the first DVD, i ordered the whole set. This will be one of the few that i will watch, and show to friends, over and over.
I can't speak directly for people who think they have no interest in birds, but that should be no deterrent. If you have any interest in the world around you, watch this video.
The videography is breathtaking; narration is great; story interest, and organization ...

From surviving hostage situations to coping with brutal interrogations and torture the team show off their skills. Find out how to set up a covert observation post, learn the secrets of firepower tactics or just pick up some tips on how to escape and how ... ...using a series of mini-dramas and reconstructions on the ins and outs of survival techniques taught to the elite group, which to me, seems really realistic. For those who bought this DVD, I would also recommend you to buy another SAS DVD, the title is "Bravo two zero". ...
