What an artist!!
Review of No Direction Home: Bob Dylan DVD by drpmulay

Advantages: its one of the best dvds i have bought
Disadvantages: nothing

The first time I heard Bob Dylan was in the wonder boys soundtrack ' Things have changed'. I loved it. There was something in his music which struck a chord. I didnot follow up on this artist, when I saw the documentary on the television. I was quite pleased to know, there are people in this world for whom passion is a singular direction in life. I have been told by many people, that I do not do justice to my work, I took their advice. But after ...
...but I feel I have some of his spirit in myself. It tells about the influences, his contemporaries had on him, but how far ahead he was from them. One statement from the documentary stands out in my mind,' you are always in the process of being made, the longer you remain in that state, the better it is for you.' Thank you Bob for your music, and thank you Martin Scorsese for such a fantastic documentary. ... Read review

Documentary On LOTRs (and its fans)
Review of Ringers - Lord Of The Fans (Special Edition) by Mithos1

Advantages: LOTRs history all in one place
Disadvantages: Nothing Special

Why did I rent this DVD? Simply for my growing interest in Dominic Monaghan; Merry in the LOTR's films and theses days known as "Charlie" in the hit LOST. OK so I'm shallow but who hasn't been tempted by a film or a TV show based solely on its casting credits!? That aside its been a while since the films were released and thought it would be nice to have a trip down memory lane, starts off with a wicked soundtrack, awesome introduction and generally ...
...me in and I was ready for an hour and a half of LOTR's history. The premise is to explore what LOTR's is all about, you learn (if you don't know already) about Tolkien, his life, the rise of the books and most importantly the effects the LOTRs has had on its fans or as this documentary calls them "Ringers", and to be fair the DVD does cover in detail LOTR's from the view point of its fans, there are clips of conventions and interviews of "ringers" ... IT'S LIKE WATCHING A NEVERENDING AD
Review of Rock School DVD by velvet202

Advantages: entertaining
Disadvantages: not educational, not suitable for children as swear words are constantly used, very promotional

...worth it. What is Rock School about: Basically, about a school, where teachers teach 9 to 17-year-olds how to play the guitar, sing and hopefully become a rock star and make Paul Green (the owner of the school) rich. Now, I would say that's a story that could be told in 15 minutes. So what's there to say in another 1 hour and 15 minutes? The answer is: nothing. When you watch Rock School, it's like you watch a neverending ad. The kids are kinda ...
...copy of movie School of Rock , only it's extremely boring, repetitive and not cute at all. And I have never seen a more obvious promotional campaign in my life. The sound and picture quality are not great. In fact, they're really bad. There's no extras. However, you have subtitles, if that helps. As much as I tried to like this documentary, it's impossible. Paul Green is not the saviour of proper rock, as he likes to describe himself. He may be ... Read review

Summary Of Simon Wiesenthal's Life

Advantages: Tells you important Dates
Disadvantages: -

...myself," he once said, "but I couldn't speak for the millions they killed." In 1986, he succeeded in having gypsy representatives included on the Holocaust Memorial Council in Washington DC. His biggest disappointments were his failure to secure the capture of Gestapo chief, Heinrich Muller, and Auschwitz doctor, Josef Mengele, who died in Brazil in 1978. Simon Wiesenthal died in the Austrian capital, Vienna, aged 96. Mr Wiesenthal died in his sleep ... Read review

Charley and Ewans first adventure.
Review of Ewan McGregor And Charley Boorman - Long Way Round (Director's Cut) (Special Edition) by wildtinsey

Advantages: More detailed than the TV series
Disadvantages: Not everyones taste

...of the first trip that Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman made together on motorbikes. The DVD i am reviewing is the 2 disc set which contains both unseen and extended footage. The trip took a long time to play and ultimately was a journey from London to New York via Europe, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Siberia, USA and Canada. The DVD covers the entire television series. The way the two discs are split is disc one conatins episodes ...
...disc has the remaining episodes on , namely 4, 5, 6 and 7. The total running time is about 6 hours so ideally you wont want to watch them in one sitting. The extras are the unseen material, the photo gallery and the exclusive post trip interview. The DVD's start with the planning stage where they have to trial possible motobikes that may be suitabel for a trip like this, they settle on either a KTM or BMW. Those that have watched the series will ... Read review
