Review of The Osbournes The First Series by
grafter123
Advantages: Very funny at times, entertaining, great characters
Disadvantages: May be offensive to some, profuse swearing
THE OSBOURNES
The Osbournes began life on MTV in America in 2002 and has since been shown in many countries around the globe. In England it was shown on mainstream television on Channel Four. As the programme contains plenty of obscenities and adult themes it was shown late in the evening initially. It is one of the few fly on the wall type programmes that I have watched and enjoyed. So much so that my husband bought me the DVD of the first series ... ...do not know, who are the Osbournes?
The Osbourne family is made up of Ozzy Osbourne, lead singer of British, heavy metal, rock band Black Sabbath and eccentric character to say the least. Sharon, his wife, has recently become quite famous in her own right being a panel member on shows such as the X Factor, appearing in adverts and as a guest on chat shows. The two children Jack and Kelly have both gone on to have their moments of fame. Both the ...

Review of Classic Albums - The Sex Pistols - Never Mind The B*ll*cks Here's The Sex Pistols (Wide Screen) by
GoodGuyBaz
Advantages: In depth look at the album. Extra material for DVD.
Disadvantages: Not long enough!
Part of the superb TV series "Classic Albums" this DVD focuses on the album Never Mind The Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols by The Sex Pistols. Extended interviews and features are included for this DVD, not shown in the TV broadcast.
This DVD is divided into distinct sections, these being -The Introductory section - Analysis of tracks - Bonus Interviews and Features.
All the menus (root and extras) are of a high standard, easy to use and fun to ... ...music journalists (from Rolling Stone and Sounds magazines) discuss the initial impact of the group and of the NMTB album itself. All agreeing that it had a powerful sound and that the band were much better musicians than sometimes given credit for. You then see all the band members (John Lydon (A.K.A. Johnny Rotten of course) - Vocals, Steve Jones - Guitar, Glen Matlock - Bass and Paul Cook - Drums), plus manager Malcolm McLaren and graphic artist ...

To bee or not to bee....
Review of Spellbound DVD by
Spiderkid
Advantages: Wonderful, diverse, interesting characters - a great plot, plenty of dramatic suspense.
Disadvantages: Will make you feel grossly unintelligent. Overbearing soundtrack and dubious editing in the final scene.
In case you were wondering, this isn’t the 1945 Hitchcock thriller of the same name (even though my local art house mistakenly printed the description of Hitchcock’s film in their brochure) - this is a documentary about an unfathomable American obsession, no, not guns, the other one, yes.. spelling. Every year thousands of American school children compete in local, regional and state spelling ‘bees’ with the dream of reaching the coveted ‘National ... ...children as they study, stutter and spell their way to Washington DC to join 241 other nerdish hopefuls in a battle of words and wits of implausibly epic proportions. Sounds interesting huh?.. Amazingly this documentary manages to create levels of tension and intense drama which Hitchcock himself would have been proud of and which puts a plethora of mainstream summer blockbusters to shame. With simple, unobtrusive filming, debut director Jeffrey ...

Summary Of Simon Wiesenthal's Life
Review of I Have Never Forgotten You (The Life And Legacy Of Simon Wiesenthal) by
mad.man.560
Advantages: Tells you important Dates
Disadvantages: -
...myself," he once said, "but I couldn't speak for the millions they killed."
In 1986, he succeeded in having gypsy representatives included on the Holocaust Memorial Council in Washington DC. His biggest disappointments were his failure to secure the capture of Gestapo chief, Heinrich Muller, and Auschwitz doctor, Josef Mengele, who died in Brazil in 1978. Simon Wiesenthal died in the Austrian capital, Vienna, aged 96. Mr Wiesenthal died in his sleep ...

Charley and Ewans first adventure.
Review of Ewan McGregor And Charley Boorman - Long Way Round (Director's Cut) (Special Edition) by
wildtinsey
Advantages: More detailed than the TV series
Disadvantages: Not everyones taste
...of the first trip that Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman made together on motorbikes.
The DVD i am reviewing is the 2 disc set which contains both unseen and extended footage.
The trip took a long time to play and ultimately was a journey from London to New York via Europe, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Siberia, USA and Canada.
The DVD covers the entire television series.
The way the two discs are split is disc one conatins episodes ... ...disc has the remaining episodes on , namely 4, 5, 6 and 7. The total running time is about 6 hours so ideally you wont want to watch them in one sitting.
The extras are the unseen material, the photo gallery and the exclusive post trip interview.
The DVD's start with the planning stage where they have to trial possible motobikes that may be suitabel for a trip like this, they settle on either a KTM or BMW. Those that have watched the series will ...
