When I first heard that Doctor Who was coming back, I groaned. For me, it seemed that it was out of place in the 21st century, best kept for stories of 'the old days'. Yet, now, after the end of the first series, I am , I admit, a Doctor who addict. So, as you can tell, the first series, to me at least, was pretty good!
This DVD contains the first three episodes- Rose, The End of the World and The Unquiet dead. The Doctor is played by the brilliant Christopher Eccleston, and Rose, the Doctors companion, is played bye the equally brilliant Billie Piper. The first two episodes were written by Russell T Davies, and the third by Mark Gatiss
In Rose, Rose meets the Doctor for the first time at her work, where he procceeds to blow the place up. As he tells her, there is a plot to take over the world, by..... well, I won't spoil that for you! It's very funny, addictive and has lots of great special effects.
In the end of the world, the Doctor takes Rose on her first long journey in the TARDIS (The Doctors time machine) They go to the year 5 billion, where the sun is expanding and going to blow up the World. Features, as always, brilliant writing by Russell T Davies, a lot of wit, lots of special effects, and some great aliens!
In the unquiet dead, Rose and the Doctor go back in time to Cardiff. There there is an undertaker, whose 'dead' companions don't stay dead for long. Features less wit, more fright and Simon Callows' Charles Dickens.
All in all, this is a great DVD of the start of an amazing series of Doctor Who. In fact, I advise you to not just get this DVD, but to get the whole collection!

I see you've posted this as a DVD review, but you've not mentioned the DVD. Are there any extras? If so, what are they and are they any good? If you add to this, or if you change it to be posted as a "Film Only" review, please let me know and I'll re-rate.

Sorry about the rating but you've left the format as DVD but not mentioned any extras. You either need to change the forat to "Film only" or add something about the extras.
