Another instalment from the inhabitants of the of the little Blue box, sending the Doctor, (played by David Tennant) and his assistant Rose Tyler, (played by Billie Piper) on more thrilling and dangerous adventures….

Writer: Russell T. Davis, Toby Whitehouse and Steven Moffat
Director: Euros Lyn and James Hawes
Producers: Russell T. Davis and Julie Gardner.

**BRIEF PLOTS**

*TOOTH AND CLAW ( 22nd April 2006)

Another slight mistake in the navigation skills of the Doctor sees the duo landing on the Scottish moors in 1879, where they inadvertently meet Queen Victoria, (played by Pauline Collins), on her way to Balmoral Castle…

With the Doctor ability to convince people of his trust, (aided by his Physic paper), it is not long before he is dining with the Queen and her entourage of bodyguards at Torchwood Estate, owned by Sir Robert Macleish, (played by Derek Riddell) and ran by what seems like some very strange household staff.

As darkness falls and tales of werewolves are told it soon becomes clear to the Doctor that there is some very strange happenings in the Torchwood building, all seeming to revolving around her Majesty… her only hope of survival lies in her late Husbands tales and a very special package she has in her possession… together with the Doctors quick thinking…

Pauline Collins as Queen Victoria
Jamie Sives as Captain Reynolds
Ian Hanmore as Father Angelo
Michelle Duncan as Lady Isobel
Derek Riddell as Sir Robert
Ron Donachie as Steward
Tom Smith as The Host
Ruth Milne as Flora

*SCHOOL REUNION ( 29th April 2006)

When Deffry Vale school is taken over by a strange new headmaster called Mr Finch, (played by Anthony Head) Mickey Smith contacts the crew of the Tardis for help…

As the Doctor and Rose go under cover to investigate the strange happenings with-in the school the truth is more frightening than they first thought… involving some bat like creatures called Krillitanes… and the threat to the entire existence of mankind it is up to the Doctor, Rose and Mickey … together with a couple of old friends from his past… to save the day… and the human race…

*Other characters in this episode…

Noel Clarke as Mickey Smith
Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith
Anthony Head as Mr Finch
Rod Arthur as Mr Parsons
Eugene Washington as Mr Wagner
Heather Cameron as Nina
Joe Pickley as Kenny
Benjamin Smith as Luke
Clem Tibber as Milo
Lucinda Dryzek as Melissa
Caroline Berry as Dinner Lady
John Leeson as Voice of K-9

*THE GIRL IN THE FIREPLACE ( 6th May 2006 )

The Doctor, (Tennant) and his now two companions, Rose, (Piper) and Mickey, (Clarke) end up landing on what seems like an abandoned spaceship deep in outer space… soon discovering that the spaceship holds some surprising secrets when they uncover an 18th Century French Fireplace which opens the doors to the past, present and the future…

As the trio look into the fireplace they are stunned by what they see, especially as the story unfolds and some rather weird figures make an appearance…

With the Doctor on a mission to protect the girl in the fireplace he leaves Rose and Mickey on the spaceship, fearing for their sanity and their lives, together with the possibility that they my lose the Doctor forever…

As the end nears is not long before they realise what the spaceship, the girl in the fireplace and the very strange clockwork figures have in common, with some terrifying results…

*Other characters in this episode…

Sophia Myles as Reinette (Jessica Atkins as Young Reinette)
Ben Turner as King Louis
Angel Coulby as Katherine Gareth
Paul Kasey as Clockwork Man
Ellen Thomas as Clockwork Woman

**IN CONCLUSION**

Tennant is still acting the part as the Doctor, but has sadly not mastered the art of different expressions, a tooth clenching grimace being his solitary way of showing all his emotions, from shock, (hiss through clenched teeth and show gums) to slight fear, (hiss through clenched teeth and show gums)… it seems to be one face tells says thousand words…

As for Billie Pipers acting skills, well, she has certainly made her Role as Rose Tyler her own, almost seeming to live the part, bringing fine acting and a likable personality coming from the Earth time traveller…

and it is good to see Noel Clarke again, playing the very comical, albeit slightly daft, Mickey Smith, with his underlying hatred of the Doctor for taking his girlfriend away from him… although having no intentions of ever saying or doing anything about it.

Don't let my negative statement about Mr Tennant put you off watching this series as they are still very entertaining shows and will please everyone who watches, although I do recommend caution regarding younger viewers when watching Tooth and Claw and School reunion, they are a little scary in parts and may frighten some people.

This volume is one of the scariest made so far, especially 'Tooth and Claw' with the wonderfully created werewolf and a storyline which is quite convincing, the brilliant Pauline Collins portraying Queen Victoria brilliantly, with great authority and charisma…

The special effects used are just right, not to over the top, giving the storylines credibility without silliness… especially the scary creatures in 'school Reunion' giving the beasts there fearsome looks and terrifying killer instincts…

Although the final episode on this disc is a little far fetched, with the rather comical clockwork figures and a time travelling fireplace, it is still worth watching as the story and acting tend to make you overlook the daft plot…

Would I recommend this…?
Yes I would.
It is another excellent three episodes of Doctor who with 135 minutes of entertainment, (45 minutes per episode).
A must have for anyone wishing to create a collection of these 21st century Doctor Who masterpieces…
