**BRIEF PLOTS**
*1 - BOOM TOWN --- ( 4th June 2005)
Cardiff seems to be a quiet little place to wait whilst the TARDIS powers up from a rift which was opened by a young lady back in 1869...
That is until the Doctor, Rose and Captian Jack bump into a solitary member of the Slitheen family disguised as Margeret Blaine, (played by Annette Badland), the new Mayor of Cardiff, an old enemy who the Doctor thought had perished in an earlier attack on Downing street.
Since taking over as Mayor, Margaret has planned something very sinister for the town of Cardiff for her own benefit and the revenge for the death of her family…
As the Doctor decides to return the Slitheen to her home planet of Raxacoricofallapatorious to face trial for her crimes it is not too long before the fireworks starts and the ground starts to shake…. So with the possible destruction of the Cardiff, and maybe the world, it is up to the crew of the TARDIS, and the visiting Mickey, to stop her before
her plans become reality and she obliterates the planet.
*Other characters in this episode:
Annette Badland as Margaret Noel Clarke as Mickey Smith *2 - BAD WOLF --- ( 11th June 2005) (part 1 of 2)
The Doctor, Rose and Captain Jack are somehow 'sucked' onto a space craft orbiting planet Earth called the Gamestation, a mixture of rather dangerous and life taking reality television games which are aired on the planet below…
As the three become separated, appearing on different games, such as 'Big Brother' 'Trinny and Susannah 'What not to Wear' and 'The Weakest Link'… all hosted by androids, the soon realise that these game shows are more dangerous than first thought.
So, with the help of Lynda 'with a Y' Moss, (played by Jo Joyner), the Doctor races against time to save his assistant from certain death… only to discover that there is a more sinister motive for the purpose of the Gamestation… reuniting him with an old foe once more, only this time it is much bigger than he ever thought…
* Other characters in this episode:
Karren Winchester as Fitch Jo Joyner as Lynda Moss Paterson Joseph as Roderick Martha Cope as the controller
With the voices of Davinna McCall, Trinny Woodall,Susannah Constantine and Anne Robinson.
*3 - THE PARTING OF THE WAYS --- ( 18th June 2005) (Part 2 of 2)
The finale in this series sees the Doctor and Rose, together with Captain Jack and some of the crew from the now invaded Gamestation, battling the once thought extinct nemesis of the Doctor, who somehow survived the Great Time war with the help of a massive and very scary looking creation…?
With the Doctor realising just how much danger the occupants of the game station are in he wastes no time in constructing an answer to thwart the plans of the invaders… only for his conscience to confuse his discussion…
As Captain Jack and some of the remaining staff of the Gamestation battle against the invaders the Doctor has to make a heart wrenching decision, causing Rose to realise just how important the leather jacket wearing stranger from another planet means to her… forcing her to make a choice of family or Doctor…!!
Fortunately, for the Doctor, as the invaders begin to take control, a rather unlikely hero arrives to re create time and space in a way no other could ever imagine…
The consequences changing everything that was previously known…
* Other characters in this episode: Noel Clarke as Mickey Smith Camille Coduri as Jackie Tyler Jo Joyner as Lynda Moss Paterson Joseph as Roderick Martha Cope as the controller
With the voice of Anne Robinson.
*IN CONCLUSION**
Three fantastic episode which will entertain from the moment you slip the disc into the DVD player..
Boomtown re-introduces an old enemy of the Doctor and also gives the viewer an insight into just how powerful the TARDIS really is, opening up the story for the final two episode.
Although the finale is a little far fetched and maybe abrupt, almost like Russell T. Davies was running out of ideas, suddenly throwing his pen to the floor and walking away after penning a rough ending, maybe to come back to later on, running out of time before the deadline… it is still a splendid ending, with some great special effects and some stunning, albeit easily created CGIs…
The penultimate episode is a hell of a cliffhanger as the story unravels, revealing the truth behind the entire existence of the Doctors reign with his assistant Rose and just how one incident can easily coincide with another, regardless of where in the universe you may be…
If you have watched this Doctor Who series from day one then you will finally begin to realise just how simple the story is and how every episode coincides with the other…
But if, for some strange reason, you have only watched this volume… episode 11 to 13... then you maybe a little confused as to what the full story is, regarding the involvement of The Bad Wolf phase and what it means, but you will still enjoy the pure entertainment and fantastic story… and the rather splendid introduction of the next Doctor… David Tennant… the English accented Scotsman…?
Would I recommend this…?
Yes I certainly would… it is without doubt a great finale to what is a fantastic series… With plenty of action, thrills, entertainment and a bit of suspense… not forgetting the romantic involvement… it is sure to please everyone in one way or another..
You can get a copy of this volume from www.amazon.co.uk for less than £7.00 or if you haven't bought any of the previous volumes you can get the full box set for around £37.00 which apparently has a lot of extras to enjoy…(see amazon website for details)…
*DVD information…
There are no extras on this DVD, all you get is the choice of 'Playing all', 'Episode selection', 'Scene selection' and 'subtitles on or off', making your choice to the well known theme tune whistling out from the television speakers…

A lot of this was filmed only a few miles from where I live and it was strange seeing 'local' landmarks. The first, with the Autons, was filmed in the hospital where my wife works. She was a bit unnerved as that corridor is where they have to wheel the patients sometimes. Regards, Gary. (Also a Dr Who fan).

Advantages: A very gripping and emotional end to a brilliantly imagined series.... Disadvantages: Did we REALLY need another episode with the Slitheen?
