Doctor Who started way back in 1963, with William Hartnell playing the Doctor! And his performance must have been so strong as we as a whole are still obsessed with this gripping programme, 44 years later! In the 21st Century, we met a brand new, fresh Doctor when the show was decided to be brought back. In come Chris Eccleston! He was perfect material to introduce Doctor Who to the younger generation who may not have known what the show was about. The Doctor went about on his adventures with his new, young and bubbly companion, Rose Tyler, played by Billie Piper. In this first series of the phenomenal show, together they embark on thirteen teriffic adventures, and they have invited us along with them...
***EPISODES**
***Rose: It starts off by introducing the live of the Doctor's newest companion, Rose. We meet her mother, Jackie (Camille Coduri) and her boyfriend Mickey (Noel Clarke). Rose works in a department store in london, and it seems like an averagly boring day for her until she is caught in a mess when the shop dummies come to life! She finds herselve being saved by a mysterious man with a blue box, who goes by the name The Doctor from these creatures! But who is controlling them, and can the Doctor safe everybody else...? This was the first Series 1 episode I saw, though I started to watch Doctor Who from Series 2. I am quite a stubborn person so I was certain I was not going to like Chris Eccleston as the Doctor, but I did! I adore him! This whole episode introduced me to a completely different series from the one I was used to, and made some things clearer too! And now I am terrified of 'autons' and shop window dummies!
***TheEndOfTheWorld: The Doctor takes his new companion to Platform One in preperaion for the end of the world, caused by the Sun expanding! Amongst the alien guests is an evil, trouble-making murderer! Who is it that brought devil-like robotic spiders on bourd to overwrite the system and let the aliens burn...? I don't know my exact feelings towards this episode.
I hate how upset Rose feels, and she has a good point about how the Doctor has brought her to see the end of her own planet. But I love the way all the creatures and aliens have been brought together into one episode!
***TheUnquietDead: We follow the Doctor and Rose on a journey back to Cardiff in 1869, but it's not just an ordinary Victorian day! Creatures controlled and made entirely out of gas are causing havoc amongst the dead, and they are set out to kill! Is there Anything the Doctor can do to save everybody...? I love this episode, it is one of my favourites! I am a massive fan of History, so going so far back in time is spectacular! The gas-like Gelth would be terrifying in real life, and the blue ora about them was totally bizarre!
***AliensOfLondon(part one of two): The Doctor is set to take Rose home, but they are stopped in their tracks when a spaceship lands in the Thames. They discover the pig-like driver of the shop was being controlled by a higher authority - the Slitheen family, who had taken over Parliament. The Doctor and Rose must stop these creatures before they destroy not only the whole of London, but the whole of the World! I think this episode is highly amusing. I found the little pig pilot too funny to resist. I laughed so much at them! And I love what Rose is wearing too!
***WorldWarThree(part two of two): The invasion of the Slitheen has turned into a war, and things are beginning to get hectic. Along with MP Harriet Jones, the Doctor and Rose have to save the world outnumbered. But when Jackie and Mickey step in, its time to get tough! Can these ghastly creatures from raxacoricaphalapitorious be put to a stop?
I love this episode too! The slitheen really crack me up - and I learned to say raxacoricafallipatorious (dont think I can spell it quite yet though!) I love their voices and they are just so cute!
***Dalek: The Doctor and Rose think they are in an ordinary sci-fi Museum, until they meet the owner, Henry Van Statten. From that moment, thet know something was not quite right! BThen they come across the Doctor's greatest enemy, but this time he is weaker. A single lonely Dalek sits dying, waiting for somebody to save it. But is it really so helpless now...? There is not much I can say on this episode, except I do not like it. The single dalek bores me, and the episode is slow to progress.
***TheLongGame: The Doctor, Rose and Adam land on Satelleite Five, where they meet The Editor. Up on the top floor, controlling everything is the Might Jagrafess Of The Holy Hadrojassic Maxarodenfoe. Can the Doctor and Rose summon Adam and defeat this slimy creature?
I dont like the fact that Adam (Bruno Langley) was along on this journey. It made it too weird. And the whole frozen human thing was so dull.
***Father'sDay: The Doctor takes Rose back to see her father's death, but Rose cannot control herself and dives in front of the car to save her father. This upset in history released the dreaded Reapers, and everybody is locked in a Church, and not even the Doctor can think of a safe way out.
It took me a long time to watch this episode as I was told it was very upsetting. And it was. I cried when I watched it. The reapers - they are not scary, they do nothing for the episode at all. But the way Rose saved her dad, little baby Rose. The episode is far too emotional!
***TheEmptyChild: London during World War II. Rose wanders off and bumps into ex-Time Agent Captain Jack. He wins her over and they ignore the strange happenings around them. When they find the Doctor again, they learn that the whole world is in danger because of the Nanogenes affecting one small boy who wants his mummy...
Again, because of my love for History, this episode was marvelous! And introducing hunky Captain Jack was amazing! He added a bit of spice to the show! I loved the way the gas masks just emerged out of the victims' mouths!
***TheDoctorDances: It is up to the Doctor, Rose and Captain Jack to find this little boy's mummy, and stop the infection from spreading any quicker. Nancy is not letting on how much she really knows, and has some crucial information the Doctor needs to know to save Earth, and get back Rose...
Again, a perfect episode. Captain Jack and his banana had me in stitches forever! The litte boy (Jamie) was so scary! It made me want to put bolts on all my doors and windows, and seal up my letterbox! And the Doctor really can dance!
***BoomTown: Rose and Doctor are joined by Captain Jack (John Barrowman)

on a trip to Cardiff. They think it is just a holiday, but their journey soon unfolds, when they come across an old 'friend'! Margarate Blaine plans to build a Nuclear Power Station right in the heart of Cardiff, and nobody can see Blaine for who she really is - a Slitheen! Will she rip the world apart, or can the Doctor save the day? I really enjoyed this episode, though I thought it was a bit too early to bring back the slitheen. Margarate Blaine is absolutely hilareous! The funniest bit is when she was trying to run away, and the Doctor kept bringing her right back! :D
***BadWolf(part one of two): The Doctor, Rose and Captain Jack land on the Gamestation (formally known as Satellite 5) in separate areas. What we know as our average television gameshows are known as an Uncontrollable Death Trap for the Human race. But can it be stopped? And what or who is controlling it? I loved this episode. Bringing three top game shows together made the show exciting, and different. Jo Joyner is a superb actress and was perfect for the role of Lynda! I didn't like it when Rose was turned to dust by the Anne-droid though.
***PartingOfTheWays(part two of two): Still, those dreaded words 'Bad Wolf' are continuing to pop up everywhere they go, and now the Doctor and Rose are in real danger! Captain Jack tries all he can to help the Doctor save the Earth, but Rose takes matters into her own hands when she looks into the Heart of the TARDIS - something that should never be done! What will happen to the power of the Timelords? Though I liked the episode before, I dont think I liked this one as much. It's not the episode itself, as the way it fitted together was amazing, bringing in Jackie and Mickey as well. But when Rose looked into the Tardis and was glowing spectacularly with all that power, I knew it was too good to be true. I cannot believe it was time for the Doctor to regenerate already. :(
***** --Chris Eccleston-- As I have said, I was not sure whether I would like Chris or not as the Doctor, but he really did win my heart over. He is superb. He is different to Tennant, he makes the Doctor funny in a way that we can laugh at him, and not with him. His humour is natural, and his ears are gorgeous! I was sad to see Eccleston go, and hope to see him back one day, some how. --Billie Piper-- I was so used to the more mature Rose, short hair and slightly more confident. Seeing this young, more innocent character in the first Series was quite a change! But nevertheless, Billie still performed her role splendidly and the casting director could not have hired a better actress for the role! The emotions reflected through Piper hit you so hard, it is unreal.
***** There is a lot of new Series 2 Merchandice out, ranging from DVDs, figures, stickers and top trumps cards, books and even jigsaw puzzles!
**The songs and soundtracks for this series were superbly written by Murray Gold, and performed by BBC Wales Orchestra!
***** Many people have a favourite Series or Doctor which they prefer. So much happenings packed into 13 thrilling and gripping episodes, Series 1 in so amazing that even the Doctor can not express it!
