The Doctor Who season 3 finale is definitely one to watch. Combining an excellent story along with brilliant acting, directing and music, too make it a thrilling 2 hours of entertainment. This is the first 3-part storyline since Doctor Who was brought back in 2005 and consists of the episodes 'Utopia', 'The Sound of Drums', and 'Last of the Time Lords'. Often Doctor Who episodes can be a little childish and cheesy, but for these 3 the series becomes far more dramatic and tense, becoming arguably the best thing on British Television. For fans of 'Life on Mars', lead actor John Simm makes a superb guest appearance as one of the stories key characters. There is also a notable and splendid appearance by thespian actor Derek Jacobi in the first episode. I'll try not to give too much away about the story as the major twist happens at the end of Utopia. Captain Jack (a favorite character from the end of season 1 and now stars in the spin-off show 'Torchwood') tracks down and rejoins the doctor when he lands the Tardis in Cardiff to refuel. They accidentally wind up in the year 100 trillion and find a professor trying to build a spaceship to take the remains of the human race to a place called Utopia. All is not as it seems though when Martha discovers a fob watch identical to the John Smiths timepiece in earlier episode 'Human Nature' which contained the Doctor's Timelord essence. As the true meaning of this fob watch is revealed, one of the doctors greatest and most menacing enemies reappears. In the next 2 episodes our heroes race back to present day London, to stop their foe before it is too late, and we finally learn who the shady 'Mr Saxon' really is. 3 episodes that easily surpass previous Doctor Who stories, in a breathless thrill ride from start to finish with an emotional finale. Definitely recommended.
