All at sea in the hands of a Doctor

Advantages: Nice light comedy
Disadvantages: The story and most of the film in general

Simon Sparrow is now a qualified doctor and working as an apprentice in a practice in London. He finds that not only is he doing all the work while his boss heads off to play golf but his bosses daughter is dead set on getting her hands on him. Deciding his only recourse it to run away he does the time honoured thing of escaping to sea. He manages to get a job on board a merchant navy ship... with no women on board! A trip to a port is something all the crew look forward to but on their first stop on this trip they pick up a couple of passengers, the Chairmans' daughter and her friend, a beautiful young singer. How will the arrival of two women affect all the lonely men on board? Doctor At Sea (1955) was the second of the seven Doctor films made throughout the 50's and 60's and is, like the first in the series, very typical of British ...

Obey your Master!

Advantages: looks great
Disadvantages: bendy, could be pricey

Doctor Who, for me, is a great passion. I first fell in love with the family sci-fi show back in 2005 when it returned with Chris Eccleston as the Doctor. The Doctor is a Time Lord from Gallifrey. He travels around in his blue box, which is better known as the Tardis, saving the planets from evil races. Sometimes he travels alone but usually it is with a companion. In 2005, the Christmas episode, David Tennant took over to play the tenth Doctor after he regenerated. He took us through a further three series. In Series 3, we went to the end of the universe with the Doctor and Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman), where we met a mysterious man called Harold Saxon. Turns out this was actually the Master, a supposedly Time Lord. He was quite evil and basically had plans to destroy the Doctor! The character was fantastically played by John Simm ...

The Third Doctor

Advantages: A new Doctor
Disadvantages: Lack of action with the Tardis

the area has been pedestrian-ised over, whilst in the story this has two way traffic going down the main thoroughfare. Extras wise the DVD has a number of documentaries, a UNIT recruitment film and commentary from the cast. Trailers from the time of broadcast are also on the disc, these are quite nostalgic to watch as the BBC idents and voiceovers make this look extremely dated, especially when you realise that this was premier Saturday night entertainment. The extras are good to watch and give an overview into how the episodes were produced, although I would've expected a bit more in terms of the extras personally. Overall this can be considered an origin story for the Third Doctor and strong one that is entertaining to watch and gives the audience some idea as to what may come in future episodes. This is also a break from the normal ...
