Doctor Dolittle One was a big hit in the U.K. Even though it was a PG, it says on the video that people say it’s “funny and engaging – for both adults and children to enjoy”.
But now we’re all talking about Doctor Dolittle 2. It’s PG like Doctor Dolittle 1, but I think it’s funny and that it should be a U. Eddie Murphy plays Doctor Dolittle in both the films.
Doctor Dolittle 2 is about a bear called Archie who’s a famous city bear. Archie acts just like humans. But when Doctor Dolittle has to get two bears to mate and have cubs in two weeks’ time or the woods would be cut down, he gets Archie to try to mate with a girl bear called Ava.
Archie loves Ava, but Ava’s not interested in city bears like Archie, so Doctor Dolittle helps him to be a normal bear, so he can save all the animals from dying. At the end, Ava and Archie do mate and have cubs.
I think Eddie Murphy is a great actor and he’s funny sometimes. The amazing thing about Doctor Dolittle is that he can talk to animals and the animals can understand him. Nobody knows how he does it, but he just can.
The film is excellent. The best bit is where Archie and Ava have the cubs and Archie starts teaching the cubs how to sing and dance. Ava still doesn’t like it though!
I think the age group it is most suitable for is age seven plus. (I am eight.) I give it 9 out of 10.
