Disturbia is a teen horror released 13th April 2007. It?s rated 15 & runs for approximately 105 minutes. It had a budget of $20,000,000 & grossed an estimated $117,573,043 at the box office. Disturbia stayed at number one in the film charts for 2 weeks upon its release. The film mainly received positive reviews however like all films, some people are bound not to like it & it did receive a few negative reviews. Disturbia is loosely based on the Alfred Hitchcock movie Rear Window.
Disturbia is directed by D. J. Caruso who is responsible for films like; Taking Lives, Eagle Eye & Two For The Money.
The lead role in this film is played by the fantastic Shia LaBeouf who at only 22 years old has appeared in numerous blockbusters such as; Transformers, Indiana Jones & The Legend Of The Crystal Skull & Charlie?s Angels Full Throttle.
Disturbia is about Kale, a teenage boy who has been tagged for 3 months after punching his teacher. This means that he cannot outside the confines of his garden for 3 months. Kale passes the time by spying on his neighbours & when a beautiful girl (Sarah Roemer) moves in next door to him thinks start looking up (pardon the pun) for him & he has something to do during the day like ogling his next door neighbour.
One night when he?s spying he notices his other next door neighbour, a middle aged man (David Morse) Robert Turner. He becomes suspicious of Turner as he returned home in a 1960?s Ford Mustang with a dent in it. This matches the description given on the news of a serial killer from Austin, Texas. Kale knows that this isn?t enough to go on so he decides to keep watching to see if there is something in this & it?s not just a strange coincidence. He knows that if he gets caught he will be in serious trouble, especially if it?s Robert Turner that catches him & he turns out to be a serial killer, however Kale is determined to find some substantial evidence even if that means going outside his given parameters set for him by the police.
This is an average horror/ thriller. There?s nothing that stands out about it. I?ve read so many good reviews on this film & personally I didn?t think that much of it. I found it slow & sometimes a little dull. It was suspenseful but it took so long to get going that I was tempted to turn it off. The last half an hour of the film is the best bit but to be honest it?s not that worth the wait. It?s a good ending & it?s cleverly done but this film could have been a lot better than it was. They could have made it a lot shorter, if that had been done then I think this would have been a much more enjoyable film.
I would recommend this film to any fan of Shia LaBeouf but to anyone that isn?t a fan of his I wouldn?t bother to be honest. It?s a bit of a disappointment. It has a very good story & could have been a lot better than it is.

This DVD is currently available from play.com for £2.99 & for that price you?ve got nothing to lose in buying it even if you don?t like it so for that reason it could be a good buy as I know a lot of people who really enjoyed this film, I?m unfortunately just one of the few that didn?t!
