Good mix between a Teen Romantic Comedy and a Teen Horror. Shia LaBeouf is an excellent actor and definately made the movie a better watch. It had a Brilliant start to the movie - With Kale (Shia) and his dad spending time together then on the way home involved in a car crash. Actually gave me a bit of a shock and really caught my attention and drew me into the film. It then goes forward to one year later, and shows how seeing his Father die has really changed him. He is no longer interested in school and has a bit of an attitude problem. Then the teacher makes the mistake of mentioning his Father and gets himself a punch for it. Which isn't good for Kale as its his third strike. Rather than getting sent to Juvie the Judge puts him under house arrest for 30 days. He starts off enjoying himself playing Xbox Live all day, downloading music, then his Mam stops his xbox and itunes subscriptions and even cuts the plug off his TV. The movie starts to get a bit slow from there as he makes his house arrest more interesting by spying on neighbours especially the 'hot girl next door'. Gets a bit teen romance as she starts to notice him spying so decides to go over and speak to him. Movie really picks up towards the end when they suspect their neighbour of being a serial murderer. Keeps you in suspense for the last 20 minutes. Definately worth a watch.

I see you've posted this as a DVD review, but you've not mentioned the DVD features. Are there any extras? If so, what are they and are they any good? I liked Shia in even stevens, good comedy actor was good to see him do summat serious x
Advantages: Pretty decent performances, suspenseful at times, Disadvantages: Predictable, formulaic teen movie, apparently tries to be funny but I didn't feel that worked

Advantages: Terrific tension built up throughout the film, excellent performances all round. Disadvantages: Slow to get going, build up is gradual and this may put some viewers off.
