Disturbia -------------------------------------- The Film -------------------------------------- Before watching Disturbia I was expecting an average thriller that I'd enjoy watching if there wasn't much else on TV. However, it turned out to a great little film that I could have easily overlooked. With so many films being released it's sometimes hard to decide which ones are going to be worth watching and which ones aren't; this one most definitely is. When Kale a teenage boy is put under house arrest for assaulting his Spanish teacher he begins to notice the weird goings on next door. As time goes by he becomes aware that the man living next door to him may well be a serial killer. However, amidst all this a young girl moves in next door, sparking another lighter side to the film (being somewhat of a romantic comedy). The acting is great and the film was very fun to watch. Although the story may not sound the most inventive or original it still proves to be a good film through the acting and directing. It definitely wasn't as dark and 'horror-film' like as I thought it was going to be before I watched it. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes a good thriller mixed with a bit comedy. As well as fitting into the teenage horror/thriller category of films it'll also undoubtedly prove popular with older viewers. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone thinking of watching it.
Overall: 7/10 - "Great thriller, fun to watch"

Rating: (15) for Sustained and strong menace (UK)
Cast: Shia LaBeouf, Carrie-Anne Moss, David Morse, Sarah Roemer, Matt Craven…
Advantages: Terrific tension built up throughout the film, excellent performances all round. Disadvantages: Slow to get going, build up is gradual and this may put some viewers off.

Review of Disturbia (DVD)
Advantages: Pretty decent performances, suspenseful at times, Disadvantages: Predictable, formulaic teen movie, apparently tries to be funny but I didn't feel that worked
