Advantages: fabulous story with lots of magic as only Disney can do Disadvantages: the end seems a bit rushed
...the same humour and animation which I feel is very much lacking in their newer productions.
This delightful take on this old legend is both refreshing and comical as we see Merlin struggle to get Wart motivated and teach him all things important - even future inventions like an aeroplane are mentioned which confuses Wart completely. I find this early animation a joy to watch especially with all the computer imaging done nowadays and it is lovely to watch the simple ideas delight my young son as it did my girls when they were his age.
It is around80 minutes long and as Choices are selling it for £12.99 just now I feel that it is an excellent buy. The dvd also comes with loads of extras as with most Disney productions.
We have on this one 2 animated shorts - the first a 1946 goofy cartoon called Knight for a Day and the second the delightful...

Advantages: Wonderfully Animated, Disney Classic Disadvantages: Short run time
...I have loved this film since seeing it as a kid. I was always captured by the magic, fun and adventure of Alice in Wonderland. I recently bought the DVD as I hadn't seen the film in years. Watching the film again I realised why I loved it so much, the extraordinary characters Alice meets such as Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts and the frantically late White Rabbit. Not forgetting the Fantastically odd Cheshire Cat. All while she journeys through the lively and very weird wonderland.
This Walt Disney Classic brings together a wonderfully wacky story with spectacular animation and some clever and catchy songs.
This film is a very entertaining watch for anyone and defiantly one of my favourites.
The DVD itself is packed with extras such as, The Mad Hatters Virtual Tea Party which consists of several quick...

Advantages: excellent in places, memorable sequences, beautiful music Disadvantages: dull in places, scary for children
...Fantasia is something quite different to the usual Disney videos, being a unique combination of classical music and animated short films featuring Mickey Mouse and other animals from the Disneyworld.
Some parts of the film are more successful than others, with Mickey starring as The Sorcerer's Apprentice being the one that everyone remembers.
The ballet dancing hippos are another classic section of the film, but the other parts are not quite as memorable.
The problem is really - who is this film for ? If it is aimed at classical music fans, then how many of them would want to watch a Disney film ? If it is aimed at adults, why feature Mickey Mouse ? But if it is aimed at children, why are parts of it too dull for them to sit through, and parts too frightening for them to watch ? The sequence to Mussorgsky's Night On A Bare Mountain...
