The Cotswolds are truly one of the glories of England. The area which straddles part of Oxfordshire,Gloucester and Wiltshire,is an absolute delight for the eye. The rolling countryside is a joy,the architecture little short of stunning,and the Cotswolds a traditional part of the country that native Englishmen,exiles and foreign visitors end up usually adoring.
Some of England's most beautiful villages are in the Cotswolds. They include the delightful Bibury,Upper and Lower Slaughter,then there are the small towns such as the gorgeous Bourton-on-the-Water,Stow-on-the-Wold and Cirencester,a historic place that some observors consider is the "Capital of the Cotswolds"

I recently had a week away in Gloucestershire with my best friend and our dogs. We stayed in a little cottage and planned to see as many attractions as we could in a week. While looking though a brochure of all the local attractions, I spotted one called Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens and was really pleased to see that we were allowed to take the dogs with us for a day out.
History
In 1923 the Manor House and Estate (that is now the park) were purchased by Colonel Heyworth-Savage and when he died in 1948, the estate was passed to his grandson John Heyworth who is the current owner. In 1969, he decided to open the gardens to the public. The Victorian Manor House that dominates the park is a listed building.
Cotswold Wildlife Park is set in 160 acres of gardens and houses an amazing collection of birds, reptiles and mammals ...
Advantages: Modern, new, good condition, large rooms, excellent conference organisation Disadvantages: It does not have the character of some Cotswolds properties.
Last month I decided that it would be a good idea to take some training courses in order to demonstrate that I was being a good accountant and keeping up with my "Continuing Professional Development". Something we accountants have to do. A few hours later I was booked on a two and a half day residential course which was to be held in the Cotswold Water Park Hotel, part of the Four Pillars Hotel chain.
Booking
My hotel accommodation was booked by the course organisers and included in the course fee paid. However I decided to arrive the day before in order to avoid a very early start on the first morning of the course. The hotel website was offering rooms for £80 a night but before booking I called to see if there was a better delegate rate available.
