...this is england focuses on life in the 80's. the film follows a young boy called shaun(Thomas Turgoose) bored on his summer holidays finds woody(Joseph Gilgun) shaun then discovers the wonders of 1980's parties skinheads and ben sherman. introduce combo, skin head, racist and dangerous. just released from prison he converts shaun cleverly using his farther who died in the Falklands war.
the film shows the harsh reality of racism in the 80's. shaun sucked into a world where only people of his kind are wanted. the film explores 1980's lifestlye . for me the film showed me the amount of racism that goes on, and shows how easily a 12 year old boy can become involved.
i enjoyed this film, the acting is good and shows the 1980 lifestyle very well. however this film can offend some people due to the amount of racism involved in the story line...

Advantages: Colin Firth, romantic Disadvantages: predictable, boring at times
...Certainly not one of the best romantic comedy of the year, but watchable, this film is based upon the 2001 novel of the same title by Charles Webb (whom also wrote the novel The Graduate was based upon).
Colin Ware (played by Colin Firth) is a handsome, funny, well- spoken British artist who discovers that his fiancée Vera played by (Minnie Driver) is getting married to another man. Heartbroken he decides to flee to New England America to a town called Hope to mend his broken heart.
When he arrives in Hope, he checks in at a local motel, still depressed and trying to lick his wounds, Joanie the landlady feels sorry for him and introduces him to her friend Mandy played by (Heather Graham) in an attempt to cheer him up.
Mandy a trained care- giver at the old folk’s home, soon helps mend Colin’s broken heart and It’s not long before...
