The plot -------------
This is set in the summer of 1963, seventeen-year-old Frances "Baby" Houseman is on holiday with her wealthy, family at Kellerman's. Baby is somewhat different to her sister Lisa and they both have different outlooks on life, and what they want to do with their futures. She has been named the first woman to hold a position in the U.S. Cabinet. Baby's father, Jake saved the resort owners Max's life and Max has been trying for years to get him up on his mountain.
One evening, Baby goes for a walk and that is when she first sees Johnny Castle, the dance instructor, you can see from her face she instantly likes him. Although she does think he is spoken for by Penny. Johnny is used by a lot of women there, as he is young and athletic, and they just chose to use him for sex, he is quite gullible, and is not used to women throwing themselves at him. However Baby and Johnny never got of to a good start, he sees her as a spoilt little rich girl.
This all changes when she tries to help Penny out, Penny is in desperate need to keep an appointment the same night they are due to do a show in another hotel. Johnny jokingly says to Baby, " what you want to do it". Penny thinks it's a great idea, although Johnny does not. For the sake of Penny he agrees and she ends up been his dance partner, and means they have to spend a lot of time together. There is some funny bits while he is trying to teach her to dance, and he gets very stressed with her. But they do end up growing very close.
I won't give too much of the storyline away, but the final dance of the season, is well worth watching the film for.

My opinion ----------------
This was a low budget film that became a massive hit in the US and the UK. Even 20 years after the film was originally made, it was still talked about and they also re-released the film, for its 20th anniversary.
I do enjoy watching this film, and have watched it several times over the years, and will continue to watch it. The soundtrack is amazing, and Patrick also wrote a song that was used in this film, She's like the wind. I love most songs from this film, and the song do you love me was a big hit after this film was released and even the dancing that's seen on the film was used in many pubs, and still is to this day. I especially loved the end of the film where they have their final dance; the moves and dancing are just great.
The acting also makes the film, they are so good, and they play their parts well, i do not think the film would be the same without the list of actors they picked out to play each part.
I don't think that many could dislike this film; it is a true classic and one of the best films I have ever watched. Its full of romance, dancing and some laughter, and you get to see a bit of Patrick's butt when he climbs out of bed loll.
A must see film for anyone who has not watched it.
