Dillinger DVD

...Just saw this film on Sky Box Office (19th July 2000). I was attracted to it since I knew of the PC game of the same name. I'm now not sure what was based on what :-) Still the film is a good evenings entertainment. Theres some great actors tucked away in this one. Remember the baddie Ed Dillinger in TRON? Well the actor who played him, David Warner turns up in Wing Commander as Admiral Geoffrey Tolwyn. Also notably David 'Poirot' Suchet as Captain Jason Sansky (Did you know he was ITN newscaster John Suchet's brother? - IMDB.com). The story is of Christopher "Maverick" Blair (Freddie Prinze Jr.) who joins an interstellar war to save the universe against the Kilrathi. OK, the plot is a tad predictable but it is carried well by the cast. There are a few good moments and reasnoble special effects. The score is really good mixing true... Read review

Advantages: : Big help by Michael Douglas to this film.And nice act by John Goodman.
Disadvantages: maybe too many show up about sex.

...The movie's main theme is beautiful Jewel Valentine (Liv Tyler looks wonderful at this movie) is between 3 men called Randy(matt Dillon),Detective Dehling(John Goodman) and Carl (paul Reiser).They all meet her at bar McCool's.They try to spill their wild fantasies about Jewel. The 3 men looks Jewel's different part.They sees her like a goddess and all of them don't like to lost her.Actually, they don't so much meet her as fall under her spell when they first lay eyes on her.. In her clinging red dress she looks like a cross between a beautiful damsel in distress and the Lady In Red looking for John Dillinger. The story begins with Randy, desperate to be rid of Jewel, hiring a sleazy hitman, played by Michael Douglas in an outre toupee. His story of how Jewel lead him to ruin, filmed in a stylized flashback bathed in blue, is mirrored... Read review

Advantages: Funny script, Captain Chaos, Sammy Davis Jnr and Dean Martin.
Disadvantages: Not as car focussed as might be expected, extremely basic plot.

...Believe it or not, there was a time when Burt Reynolds made good movies. Towards the end of the 70s and into the early 80s, Reynolds made quite a few movies that featured the recurring themes of girls and cars, accompanied by speed and pursuing policemen. Perhaps the most famous of these was "Smokey and the Bandit", but I prefer 1981's "Cannonball Run" simply because it's a lot more fun. Speed Cop: "Headquarters, we are still in pursuit of the black Lamborghini." Dispatcher: "Car 42, you've been in pursuit for two hours. Another five minutes and you'll be in Arizona." Speed Cop: "Yeah, and we're going to stay in pursuit until we catch them." Dispatcher: "It didn't take us THAT long to catch Dillinger."
