I guess the most important note to start on would be, this is my most favorite action movie of all time! Also its probably one of the most well known action movies of all time and still it surprises me how there are some people out there who haven't seen it. There's a chance if your reading this, you may well be one of those people, so even before I start to review the film you have to make sure you get around to seeing it.
Die Hard is so memorable for it's originality. If you were unfortunate enough to see the second installment and not the first don't worry, this one is MUCH better. The sequel is a disappointment to say the least.
Alan Rickman's role as the lead villain is one of the reasons I love this film so much. He's probably the best villain ever to grace our screens (at least in an action film anyway). Despite who he is, you just can't help but love him. Another reason I rate the film so highly is the way comedy is excellently incorporated into the film, where without it, it would be a completely different film. Bruce Willis plays the role of a New York cop, caught up in a hostage situation in the Nakatomi building. He takes on the hostage takers managing to kill them one by one. However, the ways he is injured throughout the film are ways that are not always portrayed in most action films. We see him removing glass from his blood drench feet, taking gun shots to his back and enduring quite a bit of pain compared to most hero's who have the ability to take on everyone single handedly without ever coming to any harm.
Even though the film was made in the 80's it hasn't dated at all. This is to this date a top class action film that to my opinion and a lot of other people has not been beaten by its sequels. If you've seen Die Hard and you're thinking about watching the sequels, as I said Die hard 2 isn't anything in comparison to the first. The third installment however is much better but doesn't live up to the first and unfortunately I haven't managed to see the forth film yet.
Overall this is an excellent action movie that I would recommend everyone should watch… well at least everyone who doesn't mind some blood and a fair amount of swearing. But after all, isn't that what we all want out of a good action movie?

Probably my favourite action film ever - Willis has so many classic lines in it and it's an unlikely Christmas classic too hehe. Also haven't seen the forth one though hoping to get it very soon :) tom
