For me, Die Hard is possibly the best film ever made, barring Terminator 2. To see the film finally on DVD is a joy. After years of seeing it in normal TV aspect and boring old mono sound, I have finally basked in the glory of the Dolby 5.1 and the films original dimensions of 2.35:1. Call me picky, but when it comes to watching films like Die Hard, you have to enjoy the full potential DVD has offer. I have seen the film on numerous occasions on VHS, so you can imagine how much better it is to see Die Hard on DVD - a lot crisper than before. As far as DVDs go, the picture and sound quality couldn't be better, it's just a shame that the extras don't do the film the justice it truly deserves. Besides the regular stuff like interactive menus and scene access, which both seem to be considered "special features" these days, there are film and crew bios, a featurette and the original theatrical trailer. It's not a lot of extras, but when it's a film as excellent as Die Hard, it doesn't really matter at all. For those who have never seen the film, I say - Where have you been for the last 13 years??? You are missing out on a modern masterpiece. Die Hard is the template for all action movies and the standard that all action movies must match. From beginning to end it will have you on the edge of your seat. With performances from Bruce Willis and Alan Rickman that remain unsurpassed in cinema in terms of the whole good-guy/bad-guy thing, fantastic direction from John McTiernan, and unquestionably good direction of photography from Jan De Bont (who directed "Speed") - Die Hard is the ultimate action film. It's packed with more one-liners and phrases you could shake Arnold Schwarzenegger at, more suspenseful than any Hitchcock movie, and more exciting than any film you'll ever see (except Terminator 2)
