Bruce Willis is back for the 4th part of the Die Hard series, and he has come back in style. He still epitomises all that made the first three films great, and infact goes further to make his character even more appealing.

Die Hard has gone into the future, with Blue Ray that is. I had been waiting for years after Die Hard with Avengance to see Bruce Willis take up the role of John McClane in Live Free or die hard (DH4) and to see it in Blu Ray made it extra special. The explosions, graphics and visual effects were unbelievable. The Blu Ray experience was made specifically for Die Hard in my belief.
The plot of this Die Hard is quite different to the former installments. The film begins showing computer hackers providing sensitive material and information to an operative of a terrorist group. The hackers are tricked into giving the information and little do they know will be killed one by one. That is until after a breach of the FBI's headquarters they send John McClane to pick up one of the hackers known as Farrell. From this moment, the action picks up in what is to be one of the best films of this decade.
The ideology of the film is that the terrorists use the security information to use the technology of the city to their own advantage and cause havoc through a 'Fire Sale'. Of course when people dont believe McClane, he does what he does best. That is, hunt down these terrorists by himself. This is the first time however, he is joined by someone else for the majority of the movie. The terrorists capture the daughter of McClane causing his vendetta.
$110 Million was the budget of this film, and CGI graphics are down to a minimum. Most of the explosions, fighting scenes and stunts are all real. Every scene had me on the edge of my seat. When it was over I raced to my computer to find out when the next one was coming out as it was so good.
The cast were well chosen with a few unknowns. Justin Long plays the part of Matt Farrell, the computer hacker. Mary Elizabeth Winstead plays McClanes daughter, and Timothy Olyphant is the terrorist. Although the storyline was smart, I did feel however that the protagonist bad guy was not played well enough. He does not come across fearful. He is a smart man rather than the crazy, ruthful former bad men of Die Hard like Jeremy Irons and Alan Rickman. That is the only dissapointment of the film. The other cast members like Farrell and Winsted however do not dissapoint as neither does Willis.
There were moments in the film when I was in awe. Have you ever seen something and then gone "Aooooooouuuurgh". This does it by a long shot.
If you have not seen the prior 3 films you dont have to worry as this film adequately fills you with some of the information you need to know about McClanes character. However I would strongly advise you to watch Die Hard 1, 2 and Die Hard with Avengance first to get you in the mood. This film is great to watch alone, on a huge Tv in high definition, and a fantastic one to get out and watch with your mates while eating a pizza.
The Running time is 123 minutes - 2 hours that is worth your money and your time. Blu Ray is the way you have to watch this film. All action films now have to be accompanied by a great high quality television. This is not to be watched on the computer but on a great TV system with surround sound. The explosions, the adrenaline is all pumped into your body when you watch this film. Blu Ray together with this film provides the Ultimate Home cinema experience.
The Blu Ray DVD disc also has some fantastic special features. 1) The making of Die Hard 4.0: Analog Hero in a Digital World. 2) Yippee Ki-Yay MotherF****r Featurette 3) Die Hard by Guyz Nite Featurette 4) Behind the scenes with Guyz Nite Featurette 5) Fox Legacy Featurette
The making of Die Hard 4 is exceptionally good with great behind the scenes information. You will watch it as soon as the movie is over, guaranteed because it is so good.
In conclusion, this is a film that cannot be missed. On Blu Ray the film becomes bigger and better. If you have not seen any of the Die Hard films for any reason, you have to watch. This is what initially made Bruce Willis great, and recently it has rebuilt his credibility after a minor absence from the film industry. The special effects and soundtrack add to the intensity of the film. What is most important...did I enjoy it....
Yippi Ki Yay Mother F*** I enjoyed it. And you will to. It has everything for everyone.

DVD Description
After a twelve-year hiatus, Bruce Willis is back as New York City detective John McClane, who still plays by his own set of rules. Following DIE HARD (1988), DIE HARD 2 (1990), and DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE (1995), the fourth instalment in the popular action series stars DEADWOOD's Timothy Olyphant as Thomas Gabriel, an evil mastermind who is determined to bring down the entire infrastructure of the United States on Independence Day, sending the country into anarchy and chaos. Joining him on his mission of destruction is the elegant Mai, played by Maggie Q from MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE III. McClane becomes involved when he gets caught in the crossfire while transporting prisoner Matt Farrell (Justin Long, IDIOCRACY), a hacker extraordinaire who is the perfect complement to the old-school McClane, who eschews mobile phones, computers, and doing anything the easy way. But when Gabriel kidnaps McClane's daughter, Lucy (Mary Elizabeth Winstead, DEATH PROOF), it gets personal. Full of the sarcastic humour, exciting action sequences--including a car flying into a helicopter--and fun characters that have defined the series, DIE HARD 4.0 is an excellent addition, directed by Len Wiseman (UNDERWORLD). The movie also features Kevin Smith as a computer geek known as Warlock, who still lives in his mother's basement.
