DIE HARD 2
FILM ONLY REVIEW
Well this film was on TV last night so I thought I'd write up a review on it while it was fresh in my head!!
After Die Hard became a huge hit, it wasn't surprising that a sequel was made in 1990. Die Hard 2: Die Harder was just as entertaining as the first movie.
Die Hard 2: Die Harder followed the pattern of the first film in having everything take place over the course of a few hours on Christmas Eve. I think it was supposed to be a year after the events of the first movie..
John McClane was waiting at the Dulles airport to pick up his wife ,Holly, on Christmas Eve.
John was already in Washington, D.C. with their kids to spend the holiday with Holly’s parents.
Unfortunately John wasn’t going to have a peaceful holiday. Colonel Stuart was leading a team of mercenaries and they took over the airport, cutting off certain systems so that the control tower couldn’t talk to the planes in the air. The planes were in holding
patterns because Stuart wouldn’t let any of them land. Stuart intended to free a drug lord that was being brought into the country. John quickly realized that something was wrong even before the mercenaries acted, but he couldn’t get anyone to listen to him. John didn’t want to deal with the situation, but he felt like he had to because Holly’s plane was circling the airport and running out of fuel.
Poor John and Holly just can’t seem to have a normal Christmas. If I were them, I think I’d stay home in bed with the covers pulled over my head instead of venturing away from home on Christmas Eve again. The fact that it was Christmas Eve was made clear without it being brought up a lot. A few Christmas songs were heard and decorations were shown around the terminal as well. The airport was packed with people because of the holiday and there were many planes scheduled to land as well which put a lot of people in danger. There was also a horrible snow storm hitting the area that added additional complications. The terrorists set up a mini airport control office in a church, where they take over the airports control systems and stop them from speaking to the pilots of the planes.
John McLean of course gets involved with the heist and takes over, to the airport police dismay. He knows what needs to be done, and he is determined to get the problem sorted so his wife and mother to his kids gets home safe and soundly.
But its not going to be so easy, the terrorists want a plane to be departed which holds General Espenoza, a big drugs smuggler, this is their only demand, but to do it, they shut off the runway lights and have 10 planes circling the airport for hours, running lower and lower on fuel.....
When the army get involved, McLean thinks everything is going to plan and thinks that finally they will get one over on the terrorists...thats until he notices the blue and red tape on the magazines of the guns...and notices the army were double crossing him all along.
The film comes to a finale when Mclean finally manages to beat them, just when they think they're away in the sky with their stolen plane, McLean open up the fuel release hatch, jumps from the plane, and sets the fuel alight, causing the plane to blow up spectacularly and of course, making a clear landing path for the desperate passenger jets in the sky above, one of course holding his wife Holly....!
Sorry this review is a little mismatch and confusing, much like the film itself!!!
Brucy is looking sexy as ever in the film, its fantastically shot, though some parts are a little unbelievable... a passenger plane (Windsor airlines) from London, has been circling for hours and is now running on just petrol fumes, yet when the terrorists manage to trick the pilots into thinking they were 200ft above land when infact they were 2 inches, the plane makes a MASSIVE explosion when in actual fact with the amount of fuel in the tanks, the plane would have probably just skidded, maybe a little fire, but the passengers would ahve escaped before any major damage happened!! but we can forgive that!!
If you watched the first Die Hard and loved it, then you'll love this one even more, its an amazing film!! again its got the undertones of humour! :-) And well who can complain about any film with Bruce Willis to perv at!!! :-p
