context in which it is used. The sight of Rob Schneider's hopeless pool cleaner turned stud-for-hire can't help but do that to you. The chosen tracks are largely from the 1970s to suit Bigalow's outdated tastes: "Get Down Tonight" (KC&The Sunshine Band), "Let's Get It On" (Marvin Gaye), "I'm Not In Love" (10cc), "Magnet and Steel" (Walter Egan), "Spill The Wine" (War with Eric Burdon), and the immortal "You Sexy Thing" (Hot Chocolate). As a sort of theme song for the comedy, Blondie's "Call Me" appears both in the original version and as a new remixed cover by Emilia Maiello. More in line with the gigolo he's replaced are a smaller selection of more recent tracks: "No Worries" (Hepcat), "Can't Smile Without You" (Sean Beal) and "Lift Me Up" (Jeff Lynne). The movie's spoof use of the Propellerhead's "Spybreak" is missing, but then it's available on plenty of other film scores. An album best enjoyed as a smirk-inducing reminder of the movie. --Paul Tonks

Deuce Bigalow, a lonely bumbling idiot, is a fish tank cleaner who has no friends – and even less cash. As he attends one of his client’s apartments one day, his attention is drawn to a suave, dashing young man who roars up in a Porsche with a beautiful woman in tow. After a brief accident in the communal gardens, Deuce is introduced to the man, Antoine, whom it quickly transpires is a gigolo. When Antoine discovers that his precious ... ...away on business. In return, Deuce gets to stay in his lavish apartment rent-free. Needless to say, Deuce agrees, and all is going well until one day he has a bit of a disaster with Antoine’s fish tank and causes thousands of dollars of damage. Realising that Antoine is not the sort of man to take it on the chin, he realises that he must find a way to raise the cash – and fast, because Antoine is due back in three weeks. The solution ...

Advantages: Some funny bits Disadvantages: Not too clever
...dull and unappetising attempt, but Deuce Bigalow is a pretty worthwhile effort and a lot more appealing than that one. In fact, all round it's highly enjoyable stuff and well worth ninety minutes of anyone's time.
Rob Schneider has come out of the shadow of working with Adam Sandler (The Waterboy, Big Daddy) to appear in the limelight as the unlikeliest of heroes, an accidental male prostitute with a heart of gold and a plunger that could charm ... ...movie.
Schneider plays the Deuce of the title, a down at heel fish pond cleaner who happens across a high class male prostitute, Antoine Laconte (Oded Fehr, who was in The Mummy as a mysterious Bedouin), and gets asked to look after the gigolo's apartment and collection of tropical fish while he's away on business in South Africa. Unfortunately while he's using the exercise equipment he accidentally trashes the apartment big style and does around ...

Advantages: Eddie Griffen Disadvantages: A slow start
..."I'm the mum, we're watching Deuce Bigalow" and I said "Robert freaking De Niro, mum!" and her closing argument through clenched teeth was "We're...watching...Deuce...Bigalow" and dodging a clip round the earhole I mumbled "Robert De Niro...You liked the Blair Witch Project for christ sake...Robert De Niro..."
Deuce Bigalow (Rob Schneider-likeable and adequate) is a sad aquariam cleaner who lusts after the girl in the pet shop. She hates him, of ... ...we get to see when Deuce dupes her into bending over into the snail tank and getting her T-shirt wet. More than once. And she doesn't notice. Hmmm. Deuce then hooks up with Antoine Laconte, a gigalo living in a luxurious apartment who stupidly allows Deuce to look after his fish while he's away on business. Deuce is clumsy and smashes his very expensive aquarium and Antoine's the kind of guy with an impressive collection of weapons he aint afraid ...

Advantages: Lots of politically incorrect humour, toilet gags Disadvantages: Only 85 minutes long, humour may offend some people
...or "Dumb and Dumber" then Deuce Bigalow : Male Gigolo is the film for you. It's jam packed full of toilet humour and politically incorrect jokes which are likely to offend some people but it had me tittering away all evening. The only drawback of the film is that it was very short - only 85 minutes.
To give you a quick outline of the story Deuce Bigalow (played by the excellent Rob Schneider) is a professional aquarium/fish tank cleaner. He loves ... ...is a world class gigolo. Deuce so much wants to be like Antoine with his fancy cars, beautiful women and, most importantly for Deuce, a state of the art aquarium. One of Antoine’s fish (a very expensive one) comes down with a potentially fatal gill disorder. The fish needs looking after but Antoine has to go abroad on business so he asks Deuce if he will stay at his apartment and care for the sick fish until he gets back. He tells Deuce two ...

Advantages: funny, laugh out loud entertainment Disadvantages: none
...energetic pace, fine acting from Deuce himself and ability to make make me laugh out loud.
A brief rundown on the story - Deuce Bigalow is your typical guy only probably lower down the food chain than most job-wise - he's a fish tank cleaner and is sometimes prone to cleaning out other places where fish are known to inhabit - toilets for example!! For some reason he meets a male gigalow (and if you picture a male gigalow, this is how he looks!) ... ...make the first day and Deuce needs a great deal more money than a fish tank cleaner has to repair it. Enter - new career as Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigalow or man-whore as he is technically known, supported by his man-pimp or he-pimp or something technically like that.
Deuce finds himself with all the crappy clients the pimp can throw at him - the 7ft tall Norwegian with big feet; the twenty stone momma; the poor but extremely funny lass with Tourette's ...

Advantages: Two very funny films Disadvantages: none
...is childish, but the jokes come thick and fast and I personally found it extremely funny. There are also touching moments as jessica attempts to repair her parents marriage and becomes more compashionate to others but you can mainly expect to see sick childish toilet humour throughout.
Adam Sandlers role as bongo playing store owner is a classic.
DeuceBigalowMale Gigalow.
This was the first Rob Schneider film that i saw, and I love it. Rob plays DeuceBigalow, a fish enthusiast who finds himself house sitting for a successful Male Gigalo. Before long he has accidently smashed the huge fish tank, whilst swining upside down and is on a rescue mission to save the fish and get enough money to replace the tank, whilst trying to save the expensive decor of the house which is now sopping wet.
His only solution is to become a Male Gigalo or Man...
