Advantages: brilliant way to spend some time in front of the telly Disadvantages: pressure sores from too much time in front of telly
...in a hospital setting and still see this kind of attitude on a daily basis. It is this use of music which the current series Blackpool as taken from DennisPotter, and used to good effect.
While this is not an easy DVD to watch, partly due to the length, the story line, and its
Freudian imagery and symbolism, which runs throughout the plot. . In the end it is well written and worth sticking to once started, as you will watch one of the great television dramas of the last 20 years, and a masterful performance by Michael Gambon....

Advantages: Different and very entertaining. Disadvantages: None.
...I came across this movie while searching through my brother's DVD collection and was quite interested as I had watched the T.V. series ' The singing Detective ' by DennisPotter (which I thought was brilliant )
I did'nt know it had been made into a movie and on seeing that Robert Downey Jr was playing the lead role among some other good actors I thought it was worth borrowing.
Although based on the TV series of the same name and the same storyline there are a few differences..................
The TV series is set in 1940's London with a big band music theme whereas the Movie is set in 1950's America with a Rock 'n' Roll musical theme !

Advantages: Fresh New stories with a few old enemies! Disadvantages: Too Much set on earth for my liking.
...and adventures.
Aliens of London the first two part adventure kept the television audience watching in both parts, which in todays busy tv shedule is hard to do, and this high audience share can be put to the excellent storylines with ex-fans writng for the show under the eagle eye of Russell T Davis, although not personally a fan of his stories the ones he has not written seem to be excellent in every way.
A welcome return also for the Daleks, in the final two part adventure they are once again poised to take over the planet earth in the year 100100 AD.
Although many of the stories are excellent there is for me, too much set on or around the earth, it is time for the Doctor to explore space as well as Time.
The new TARDIS control room also looks futuristic and yet has the whimsical penchant for breakdowns that make Doctor Who what it is....
