Advantages: Vintage Def Leppard, contains many of their best known tracks Disadvantages: Some songs are repeated for no good reason

As a huge Def Leppard fan, I bought these on video when they were first released back in the Eighties and upgraded to DVD a while ago. Many of the best known songs from the early part of their career are included with videos and TV appearances on "Historia" and live performances on "In The Round, In Your Face". This is a great nostalgia experience, not least for the opportunity to watch the wonderful Steve Clark in action. Much as I like Vivian Campbell, the chemistry between Steve and Phil Collen is great to watch. On the downside, I think they could have dropped one version each of "Pour Some Sugar On Me" ( the video is fine and maybe the US version, they could have done without the UK version though) and "Bringing on the Heartbreak", again the video version is fine plus the live version with the Spanish guitar intro by Phil. I don't think the version with Pete Willis is needed but I imagine they were trying to acknowledge his contribution. On the plus side, on "Historia", I especially like the tongue-in-cheek cartoon video accompanying "Women", the circus video for "Animal" and the unexpected version of "Love Bites". On "In The Round In Your Face", my highlights are "Hysteria" simply because it's my all time favourite Def Leppard song, storming versions of "Gods of War" and "Die Hard The Hunter". Watch out for a surprise appearance by "Switch 625"! This DVD is a must for the serious fan but others may prefer "Best Of" or "Rock of Ages" which possibly contain their more "commercial" stuff.

Review of Def Leppard - Historia / In The Round In Your Face (DVD)
British hard rock band Def Leppard are celebrated in this compilation of two of their best-selling video releases. HISTORIA is a collection of all 17 music videos that the band put out from 1977 to 1988, including such hits as Photograph, Animal, and both the U.S. and U.K. versions of Pour Some Sugar On Me. IN THE ROUND IN YOUR FACE is a live concert film which captures Joe Elliott and the boys in raucous performances of hits like Hysteria and Bringin' on the Heartbreak.
